Consumer organizations in Europe warn against two car sests: Britax Römer Baby-Safe Pro + Vario Base 5Z and Axkid Minikid Core.
I could not find an English link, I'll update as soon as it's in. The message just was published today. This is for European seats. They buy and tests seats twice a year. All of the seats are approved but approval doesn't mean safe (in Europe) despite the new regulation having stricter rules it's still not good enough.
The independent test confirmed what experts have pointed out time and time and time and time again—transporting older children in a reclined position is dangerous!
The 11-kilo dummy (representing a one-year-old child) flew out of the seat when the Babysafe was used in the reclined position. The harness buckle snapped open.
In the Axkid Minikid Core, the support leg snapped when the Q6 dummy (representing a child of about 6 years old) was placed in the most reclined position.
If you use the Römer Babysafe, you should use it without the base, as the harness was not observed to come loose—neither in the reclined position nor in the upright position—when the seat is secured with the car’s seat belt. Römer is currently investigating the cause of this issue.
Axkid has already recalled the seat and stopped selling it. In both their internal tests and the Swedish Plus Test, they did not test the reclined position with their largest dummy.
