Recently got into an old bungalow, and while it doesn't feel that warm in here the thermostat spikes to 78-80 almost every afternoon and takes the rest of the evening to cool off. I've put up thermal film, blinds, uv curtains, we have fans in every room. We're not sweating, it feels like the 74 we keep the ac set at, but I'm not looking forward to my next teco bill 😕

What else can we do to "cool" the home down? We asked the landlord about attic insulation cause our first bill here was almost as much as the service deposit. Landlord said contact Teco for their energy audit and they can touch it up... but all they did was check my appliances, and give me a list of contractors to update the insulation that I can't hire and doubt the landlord will.

Friend of mine took in a young cat to help out a family member temporarily while they moved. Family member doesn't want the kitten back, got a place that doesn't allow pets. He's a little over a year old and very sweet and playful....but the kitten is not fitting in with my friend's existing cats. All the critters are stressed, and we don't want to just dump the kitten in a shelter if that can be avoided. Friend said they googled rescue and tried calling the first couple results to no avail. Any suggestions??

I've been renting a place for two years. Occasionally few days late but generally in good standing with rent.

The house I'm renting, the owner bought off family to help them retire. He lives out of state I'm his only "property". He likes me but he's just kinda, over it, the landlording.

60 days before my lease ended they were like hey let's do month to month. Not my ideal, but my partner just moved in and we're down the street from my kids school so whatever its a cushion while searching.

The very first month property manager texts me "hey actually just go so we can show the place at will". I understood that's a risk, sucks but we're making it work.

They want me out the 31st. New teenage isn't available until the 3rd. Normal rent is $1700/mo, they want $1000 for the extra week (53hr). They are threatening me with eviction for not vacating early or paying extra. Told them I'd pay $100/ day extra that we stay, which is twice what the rent would be daily but I'm not paying $1k for a couple days. I don't want an eviction inquiry on my record either, whether or goes anywhere or not it's public record for 7 years is it not??

Moved into a new rental last September, been in this area awhile but wanted to be closer to my kid's junior high they started at as they're involved in a dance program that requires a lot of back and forth during non-school hours. We're a block away, so they ride their bike over or walk with friends and get a little independence.

Within 2mo he had code enforcement at my home at least 7x. Here's a few examples:

Before the moving truck was even unpacked, had code enforcement in my yard about over grown lawn. The yard needed a little TLC (lawn care is on the tenant) but the unit was empty awhile before we got it... and I'd literally lived there a couple days at this point. Showed code enforcement the lease, no citation and they gave me a couple weeks to trim up the hedges etc.

As we're unpacking a 3 bedroom house, get another visit from code enforcement... excessive trash in the alley shared with the neighbor to the right of me(the one from hell). The city asked for access through the locked gate and see *GASP* a pile of broken down boxes tucked between the bin and wall of my home. Almost as if I was unpacking many items..... no citation city just said get em in the bin when you can.

Code enforcement is back a less than a week later, after I had cleared the yard, excessive yard waste (aka a pile of weeds getting put into a refuse bag). No citation city just says dispose of it properly, like I was already doing.

This dude pulled used cat litter bags out of my garbage, threw them all over the yard, then sent pictures to my property manager... because he doesn't want my bins on the side of the house behind the one gate, he wants them in the backyard by the shed - meaning I would have to drag full bins over a block through 2 gates on a path of seashells and down my front steps to the curb. He wrote a detailed email with that photo that I need to mow once a week, take my bins out twice a week, no food or pet waste allowed on the bins, he went on and on saying he's best friends with the property owner... property owner said they've met in passing but he doesn't know the neighbor.

There's a few garden beds out front, my kid and I filled with propgated herbs, wildflowers, compost scraps like veggie seeds. Neighbor digs up the garden bed by the driveway to plant a lemon tree, effectively killing all my plants. Told him to get his shrub and put it in his own yard "its all astroturf so this area is MY community garden, but you can use it if you'd like. "

After asking him many times to mind his business, the tree incident got me to call non-emergency. Explained that I can't fart in my own yard without the city showing up and harassment continued even after the property manager told him to pound sand. Neighbor comes out while the cops are there being nosey thinking they're they "for me", realizes I'm showing then emails with the property manager and texts with the owner and he cane rampaging into my yard to like fight the cops. Took 2 officers to restrain him so they told me to go inside. After he threw a tantrum for 45min the cops came back and offered me a restraining order, I declined as I can see into his living room from my own if I really wanted to.

He left well enough alone for awhile after the cops told him no contact, but then he started making comments at my kid when they'd take the trash out "oh cleaning up after your mom, I'd hate to see what your house looks like" this dude is mid 60s at least, my kid is 12. Caught him one time and told him to stfu, then I started coming home to notes taped on my door almost every day "I'm under video surveillance, he's contacted authorities, lawyers are involved" what this is in context to, only weirdo neighbor knows.

After a week of notes I called non-emergency again saying I'd changed my mind about filing a report/charges whatever. Neighbor isn't home but talks to them through his ring camera, absolutely lost his shit again. He was cackling like a movie villain and saying everything was a lie, when they showed him the notes his response was "they're polite notices". Got a report number and waiting on the injunction, Neighbor response is to put up a privacy screen on his porch and cover it with passive aggressive stickers that face my porch (Pic in comments).

I love the house, the space, the area, my work commute, that my kid is a block from school and near friends.... but I've gotta decide by next week if I'm renewing or not. Do I want another year of this BS, absolutely not, but moving is so fucking expensive.

I 39f and my partner 36m have been together about 8mo or so. We've consistently hung out a few days a week or more our whole relationship ...which started pretty hot, heavy petting or sex after most dates.

He has basically lived with me part time the past 3 months or more, like he's home maybe 2 days a week. We've done some costumes, and other kinks together, I've had a lot of fun with him dabbling in being little freaks together sporadically... but mainly just the regularity in intimacy has been so nice even if it's just some dry humping before work in the morning.

Lots of kissing - though only occasionally deeply making out, cuddles, late night goofing off in bed talking about everything and nothing, lazy days off binging one of our shows tangled up on the couch with snacks, we always hold hands or something when out, so the affection is still there.

I'm secure in our relationship, we're still making future plans and I'm really happy with him. I get the honeymoon phase and all that, but that's the only dynamic that's changed in our relationship is the sexy time. I miss feeling more wanted.

I mentioned to him Wed that I'm in need of some aggressive making out and joked about longing for his embrace, his response was "haha we just fucked on Fri what do you mean". Thu he was already at my house when I got home from work that afternoon, we had the house to ourselves for a few hours before my kid's recital. I showered the waitress off me and got in bed with him to wake him up with kissing and touching as we usually do to each other.

He was uh responsive but then got up and offered to help me put the fresh blankets back on the bed in my spare room aka craft room and put it together for my best friend to visit (they were arriving after the recital and bf was going to work after recital). It's now Friday again, we've never gone a week without making love or one of us going to town on the others parts in some way. I've got toys gifted by him to use but I'm bonkers horny for my partner haha, I'd rather be with him than a vibrator.

Side note: he's started an overnight job that's like 4 nights a week 9hr shifts about a month ago while allegedly fully quitting drinking a few weeks ago (he doesn't drink a lot but when he does he drinks a lot.. mainly vodka ... there is no casual for him, a few beers socially opens a gate, so he's cut it out completely recently to not jeopardize his forklift job or put more strain on our relationship after a few misunderstandings early on almost ended things.) So, I think he's just feeling less bold all around. I'm about to just get in a costume and jump him when he comes over today haha.

TL;DR we are intimate but boning less, partially influenced by job schedule and his supposed sobriety and I'm trying to light that spark again.
