Received my Dream Air - yep, it doesn't work

I've had the Reverb G2 since launch and it's been a super reliable headset.
This is my first Pimax headset. Pretty much every time Pimax announced a new headset I nearly pulled the trigger. I even pre-ordered one once, then cancelled at the last moment because of the disastrous quality control, Pimax being Pimax, and the way they handled things.

On paper, the Dream Air is everything I want from a VR headset. I told myself I had to at least give it a shot and that the odds of getting a bad device were probably lower than they looked online.

I've now spent 4 hours trying to get this thing working and I've decided to give up for today. Pimax Play doesn't recognise the Base Station properly - it just flashes in the interface with a "Not tracking" message.

I tried the SBoy driver and, with that at least, SteamVR recognises the Base Station. But the headset just says "Put on your headset to wake VR" and nothing I do actually wakes it up.

Pimax support helped for about an hour before telling me to open a support ticket. They said it'll take one or two days for someone to get back to me - presumably because they're inundated with issues from the latest wave of Dream Air shipments.

The build quality of this thing is shocking. I'm quite worried about how long it'll last. From the outside it looks and feels like a $100-$200 device. The decision to have no hinge at all where the strap connects to the headset, the awful face gasket, and the double-cable layout has me shaking my head in disbelief. I know a new backstrap is being sent out, but that's the least of my concerns.

The biggest issue with the cable design for me is how much of an inconvenience it is when taking the headset on and off. The whole thing feels like a pre-production testing unit rather than a finished consumer product.

I'll give a full review once I've actually managed to get the thing working - or not. Hopefully these negative first impressions will improve.

How do you transfer a sim to esim from IPhone 5 to IPhone 16e?

A client of mine wants me to help transfer her physical iPhone 5 SIM to her new iPhone 16e. I'm not really an Apple guy, but she seems to think the iPhone 5 doesn't support the eSIM transfer feature due to being on iOS 15.8.7.

I haven't gone over there yet to sort it out, but I wanted to make sure I understand the solution before I do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any Plans to Change the Dream Air’s Two-Cable Splitter Box to a Single Cable?

Are all the Dream Airs still shipping with the two cables and the splitter box at the back?

I haven’t heard Pimax say anything about this, but pretty much every single person who’s tested the Dream Air so far has had the same reaction which boils down to: “WTF Pimax!”

I’m quite concerned about having a heated splitter box sitting against the back of my neck. It seems absurd that anyone thought this was a good idea. But I digress - my question is whether they’re planning on doing anything about it?

On a positive note, I imagine it works well with those pully systems.
