UST Pharmacy or WVSU Dentistry? Which school should I enroll in?

got accepted into ust pharmacy via special admissions, and got into wvsu dentistry on the first try.

i am an only child. my father is retired, my mother has no work. i have no idea if they will be able to support me in UST, but we have hope.

i am currently applying to available scholarships. i missed out on a lot of them (DOST, SM, CHED), but I am trying to be hopeful.

UST has always been my dream school, and pharmacy is my dream course. I'm highly considering to take medicine after.

dentistry in WVSU is quite new. there are not enough statistics on board passers, but wvsu is generally a good school in my opinion. dentistry itself is also very competitive. however, dentistry is six years, and there will be an additional 3 years of RSA.

my end goal is to study medicine and become a doctor, either abroad (if kaya pa) or at UST. i've been heavily discouraged by others from taking dentistry, but it might be the most accessible course as of the moment.

my dad has been assuring me na baka kaya pa naman and to think about my future din. but i want to hear the thoughts of others, especially from the perspectives of people that may have had a similar dilemma in the past.

may delete post if anyone recognizes me HAHAHAH 😞😞

can i study med while completing 6 yrs of RSA (DMD)?

i did the math. if i choose the most accessible option right now (DMD in a state university), I'll finish when I'm around 24-25. add six years of RSA and I'll be 30. can i study med WHILE completing 6 yrs of RSA? can i pursue surgery after?

i just want to get into med as quickly as possible. im still hoping for reconsideration at other schools with programs I'd rather take.

is dentistry really for me? :')

Hello! I was recently accepted into a state uni's College of Dentistry, and I'm one of the few applicants who was ultimately offered a slot.

However, I'm having second thoughts about whether dentistry is the right path for me.

Ever since junior high school, my goal has always been to become a doctor, if not a cardiothoracic surgeon abroad. My preferred pre-med was Pharmacy because it aligned with the things I genuinely enjoyed; memorization, chemistry, mathematics, laboratory work, and I mainly applied to institutions known for their research since I've learned to love writing research papers. I've always been more of an academics-oriented student and found myself much more drawn to studying and lab activities than to our more artsy or skill-based activities.

Since Pharmacy wasn't offered at the state university, I randomly chose Dentistry as an alternative. However, after learning more about the program and its RSA requirement, which would require me to serve for six years after graduation, I'm beginning to question whether enrolling would still align with my long-term goals of pursuing medicine and eventually working abroad.

I'm still waiting for the results of my reconsideration at UST FOP, but at the moment, I'm uncertain whether Dentistry is a path I truly want to commit to.

I'd really like to hear stories from others, to maybe either motivate or demotivate me from choosing dentistry. If anyone has been in a similar dilemma, please share your experience! Thank you 🥹🥹...

Am I an ENTJ or was I mistyped?

I’m a female turning 18 soon.

I grew up in a religious family. Personally, I’m Roman Catholic—I’ve attended catechism classes and have also studied other religions.

I’m not usually described as “sociable,” depending on who you ask. Sometimes I’m loud and can get a crowd moving; other times, I just don’t insert myself. Usually, though, I’m the former. I only stay quiet when I don’t like the crowd.

Speaking of crowds, I love crowded places. I don’t necessarily interact with people there unless I’m alone. I feel like there’s an unspoken societal expectation to interact with others when you’re out in public spaces.

Growing up, I was always the well-behaved kid. I was the type to take charge instead of the class mayor and list down the names of students who misbehaved while the teacher was away. I never really held any major leadership roles until high school, mainly because I wasn’t permitted to.

I was also bullied. A group of girls started targeting me in fourth grade. By the next year, I was making dummy accounts to leave hate comments on their Musical.ly videos because I thought it was funny at the time. I also tried exposing their bullying schemes in the comments, though they kept deleting them. Two of those girls are still friends to this day.

When I was younger, I also kept a diary. My younger self reminds me of the fictional character Angela Anaconda because of my vivid imagination and the way I’d fantasize about getting back at the people who irritated me. I also somewhat relate to Greg Heffley, although I never fully got into the series.

My leadership skills have often been underestimated. I was rarely the person people would naturally pick to lead a group, but I never really cared because I trusted my own vision. And when something didn’t work, I could usually come up with a better alternative quickly—not to sound narcissistic.

Over the last two years, I’ve become less aggressive in the way I lead groups. I realized that people work more efficiently when you treat them like little kids learning how to go potty. Even simple things, like adding happy emojis and emoticons, helped motivate people to contribute. Sometimes, though, it also made them too laid-back and overly reliant on AI, so I plan to stop doing that moving forward. I still get called bossy though.

When starting projects, I always come up with the craziest, riskiest, never-thought-of before plans. I'd say I'm both an ambitious and impulsive planner. Surprisingly, it usually works out in the end. Mainly because I've learned how to use my connections overtime. When it doesn't, the project still happens in a less satisfying way.

I chase a lot of awards, both academic and extracurricular. I’ve won several, mostly related to leadership and advocacy.

My closest friends usually have dominant Fi personalities.

When it comes to instructions, I follow them carefully—but I also make sure to go beyond expectations. For graded projects, I always review the rubric thoroughly and aim for the highest possible score.

I view many things as competitions. Even when they’re not meant to be, I naturally find myself comparing and competing with others in certain aspects.

I’m also a strong speaker. I tend to think quickly and rarely use filler words like “um” or “uh.” I do, however, overuse words like “basically” and “very.” I also rely heavily on hand gestures and eye contact to emphasize my points. People who’ve interviewed me often describe me as well-spoken, while others say I have an aggressive yet persuasive speaking style.

As for the future, I want to leave my country and earn millions. I grew up in a poor family with unambitious people, but I have big ambitions.
