'06 vs '08 Snatchy Throttle feel

Curious if anyone has rode both a '06 and '07/'08 model to share if there was any difference in the snatchy throttle feel. I was a long time owner of a '08 that I rode over 80k miles on before someone hit me, thus totaling the bike.

I have been window shopping the last 2 months for a replacement and for some reason only the 2006 models keep popping up in my area. I know the main issue with the '06 was the rough snatchy throttle which Yamaha revised over the years several iterations of the ECU, esp. immediately after it's first year release starting in 2007.

I know I can have the ECU reflashed but curious if it's really that bad and is it livable without doing it? I know I can perhaps feel it from a test ride but it's one thing to feel a small annoyance versus constantly observing it over long term ownership. Thanks in advance!

Quirky patterns as a motorcyclist?

Been riding for close to 20 years now, I have no idea why but out of the 7 bikes I've owned (several at a time in some cases), half of them were either a 2007 or 2008 model. I am looking at another bike to add and what do you know - it just happens to be a 2008 of all years. My previous and current truck of different makes have also been a 2007!

Am I in some strange paradigm that I can't shake these years? Have any of you noticed random patterns that have weaved itself through your motorcycle life journey? Perhaps common colors? Gear? Ticket types? =). Just a fun post for amusement, have a good one.

Parts availability question for Fifth Gen (Potential owner)

I'm seriously considering picking up a fifth gen with very low miles (less than 10k) as a secondary bike for my stable. I've researched a lot of ins/outs about the fifth gen and just wanted to gather how difficult (or not) it is in continuing to source parts, mainly maintenance items for this gen. I plan on putting easily 10-15k miles a year on this bike if I pull the trigger.

Typical bike-specific wear items: brake pads, clutch, fork seals, brake piston rebuild kits, RR/Stator, thermostat?

Location: US

Appreciate any perspectives!

Tips/Suggestions for handling vintage GPK cards in binder sleeves?

Thought it never hurts to ask, I dusted off my old binder collection as a kid, from the 80's with well over 300 cards in binder sleeves. The sleeves surprisingly are holding up unlike another binder's worth of sports cards that are shredding if I even remotely turn the page.

I plan to remove them all by hand and put them in a penny sleve/toploader, then into a new toploader binder. Is there anything I should consider given most of them are peelable stickers? Any tips for "stuck" cards other than potentially using a heat gun from a far distance?

Thanks in advance!

Perspectives of when to edit out certain storylines/footage topics versus including them

I'm just in the early stages of editing/publishing content on daily life and capturing events within my area. I am curious what the community thinks of long videos (60+ mins) where the viewer goes through an unusual journey to get somewhere and then observes in whatever the destination's activity is.

The journey alone can be interesting for one viewership while the activity itself may be interesting to others of another viewing interest while a smaller percentage may want to see both. My main goal currently is to just gain more viewership and feedback. If I were to edit and publish the footage individually, I may have more appreciation for the division of videos I produce.

Many other yt'ers have done either, just considering how to approach this since most of my vids would be an hour long if I combined them.

Any input/perspectives are appreciated, thank you!

Just sold my '08 R1200RT this past weekend, it needed a new clutch so I forked it over as a mechanics special. I currently have a S1000XR as more of a weekend rig so looking to get a replacement for general day-to-day commuting and running errands. Been riding for 15+ years, one of my fondest bikes have been a Yamaha FZ1 and a SV650.

Coming from the RT that's ~600+ lbs with panniers on, I'm looking for something much lighter in the sub 500 lbs range that is comfortable at 5'8" and could provide me some spirited riding on the weekends when given the urge.

Here's my checklist:

+ 500-1000cc

+ ADV, standard, or sport touring model

+ No parallel twins or singles

+ Must have the ability to have a rear top case mounted (aftermarket or OEM)

+ Less than 500lbs

+ $10k USD or less

+ Huge Bonus for long valve adj. interval (18k + miles)

Contenders:

- MT10 / FZ10

- Kawi Z900rs

- Triumph Trident

- Honda VFR (sixth gen), a bit heavy and a bit older

- Kawi Z1000SX

Are there any other bikes I should consider? TIA!
