My BF encouraged me to take a job. I lost the offer and I’m letting him down. Not sure how to go about this.

Hi all,

I’m feeling overwhelmed and just needing support. I know I’m going to be looked down upon but, here I go:

I was offered a job at a place with high turnover rates. Before making my decision I would go back and forth about saying yes and no. I value my health and knew that at the job I would not have a good work/life balance. But, I knew that I needed to use my degree somewhere. I’ve been unemployed for about six months now and haven’t had an issue.

I shared this with my boyfriend who listened and encouraged me to take the job so that I can save up, get experience, and leave after 6 months. Note, we do not live together. He was very insistent that it would be good for me. Again, I would go back and forth. And anytime it was brought up I would go in fumes. My body would react and I think it was a sign for something. Every day that passed by, I would get a email from the hiring manager “are you still interested?” This infuriated me. It would have been nice if they sent a deadline instead of pestering me.

Then I talked to my boyfriend and I decided to go through with it. I sent the email and they sent me a link to fill out during the weekend. I did not do it over the weekend because I value my time.

Next business day, another email was sent “are you still interested?” I took a deep breath and waited hours. I followed up and they said they are no longer interested as I waited too long.

I cried because I knew I was missing out on an opportunity to grow. I was also relieved because I didn’t have to risk my sanity.

But now, I feel that I have let my boyfriend down. He told his family that I got a job and they were all happy for me. I don’t know what to do. We are to see each other in a few days and this secret is eating me alive. I wish he hadn’t told his family. I wish I hadn’t waited to long. I wish I had the confidence to take any job and risk it all.

Any advice or support is appreciated.

Short story: Iffy about a job offer. Was encouraged by boyfriend to take the opportunity. Waited too long to accept offer and no longer have offer. Feel shameful that I let boyfriend and his family down.

Had a terrible interview, got an offer, and need to make a decision. Need help/support!

Hi all,

I’m here to rant and look for help!

I interviewed for a job as an Adult Case Manager for a local mental health and IDD authority for a county in TX. It was terrible as I have poor interview skills and can’t think on my feet. What I learned about the job:

- a caseload of 150/month needs to be met
- they say your schedule is “flexible”
- mileage reimbursement
- 1 month training
- they do offer supervision for licensure
- $25/hour

Learning this sounded really overwhelming! And when I heard the offer. I panicked. There’s no way I can do this?! My previous jobs, I never really dealt with crisis clients. (simple front desk at health care office) If there was, I would lead them to a supervisor. I can’t deal with them because I freeze.

It seemed like they really just want a placeholder. On indeed they have 2.6 star reviews. Posts made by social workers are poor.

I’m worried. My friend was telling me to just do it for 6 months, save the money, and then leave if I burn out. But I also want to just stay at home and keep looking.

Please, please, if there is anyone available to chat. I would appreciate it! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Interview coming up where I could possibly use my LMSW for the first time! Need support and tips.

I applied for a social worker position as a Licensed Social Worker at a short-term rehab and long-term care facility. It is not a part of a continuing care retirement community.

I got my LMSW in February (2026) and have not been able to use it. I'm currently at home since I was laid off at my previous job. My experience is in front desk at a mental health outpatient facility and an internship at a nonprofit place that offers food and financial assistance. I had applied to this job not thinking much about it and now I have an interview!

I'm very nervous because as I read the job description, I don't have any experiencel Here are some examples:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and family couseling?
- Coordinate intakes and manage crisis intervention.
- Strong hospital experience with medical terminology knowledge
- Skilled in working with individuals with developmental disabilites.

Here are some of the questions I have for the interviewer:
- How is the work culture like?.
- Does this facility offer supervision hours?
- What did you see on my resume that made you want to contact me for an interview?

Thank you for reading! Please share helpful tips and advice! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

23F Looking for a female friend!

Hi all,

I’m not the greatest when it comes to making friends, I hate surface level conversations and want to get to into the nitty gritty. I’m awkward but working on it!

A bit about me:
1 One of my favorite media genres is romance! Just finished watching “Off Campus” and loved it! Would love to fangirl with someone! Honestly, I’m very open to any genre to be honest.
2 I like anime too! Recently completed “Pluto” and “JJK”.
3 I like paper crafts like pop up cards and scrapbooking. I do crochet but it’s rare, haha. Looking into sewing to make me a purse!
4 Multiplayer games are what I prefer. I don’t own a PC or console so I usually play Roblox on mobile when my boyfriend or siblings want to play. “Dead Rails” is one of my favorites!
5 My love language is quality time and acts of service.

Anyways, I would love to practice my social skills and hopefully make a long term friend out of it. Looking forward to meeting you! ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
