Girl mom comment/vent o''clock

Last night we went to an event with friends we had not seen in a while. They have a 2.5 year old daughter. We brought our 6 year old son and 7 month old baby boy.

My son was acting pretty wild and excited. It was also pretty late/past his bedtime so this didn't help the situation. But he was also very sweet to their daughter and played/ ran around with her.

For added context: two years ago I had a stillborn daughter. This friend knows this!

As we were walking together, watching the kiddos run around, the friend suddenly said "Oh I am so happy to have a girl. I thought I wanted a boy at first but now that I see what boys are like and how they have so much more energy, I am really glad that I have a daughter!"

I felt like someone slapped me in the face and I thought this comment was so rude. I love my two boys. It felt like a criticism of my child and also felt insensitive knowing that I lost a daughter.

I played it off and made it through the rest of the event but I am still really freaking hurt.
