Burn orange is all I want in my life right now

I made this super simple tucks skirt and I love how it came out! I’m ready for fall layering.

Project notes:

Pattern: Augusta Skirt (https://goldandskye.com/en/products/augusta-skirt-pdf-pattern)

Size made: 26” waist

Fabric used: cotton poplin

Skill level: adventurous beginner

Alterations:

- I removed about 3” total from the length because I’m petite. I removed 2” from the top and 1” from the bottom layer.

- I added pockets. If i were to do it again I’d make the pockets 5”-6” below the top waistband because 3” is butting right up against the waistband and it’s a little snug. Whoops.

- I did the waistband at 1” elastic instead of the recommended 1.4” elastic cause I didn’t have any that size and my pockets were up too high.

I was told to post my curtains skirt here!

I thrifted these curtains for $7! I only used one so this skirt was a total of 3.50. Very simple project and it only took a couple hours!

Skirt + curtains = skirtens. Ok??

I found a really pretty set of curtain panels at the thrift and I decided they really wanted to be a petticoat! So here’s what i did

Project notes:

Fabric: thrifted curtains (cotton, $7)

Pattern: self drafted

Size: 30” waist; 38” hips

Method: first i cut off the finished edges and the top of the curtains. Then I cut to length (32” for the lower panel and 28” for the upper). With the leftover fabric I drafted a simple waistband- 40” x 5”. I also made a pocket for the side seam.

I sewed the side edges with my serger first, then serged the side of the pocket. Then I sewed the pocket on and serged the curved edge. Then I sewed gathers at the top of the skirt pieces when held together. Then i sewed the skirt to the waistband and added my elastic (@ 28” wide). That’s it!
