I've recently started writing a progression fantasy, and it's made me realize how little I actually know about what keeps readers engaged.

I'm not here to promote my story. In fact, I don't think it's ready to share yet.

What I really want is honest advice from people who read this genre regularly.

When you pick up a new progression fantasy, what makes you want to keep reading?

What makes you lose interest?

Have you noticed any common mistakes that new authors tend to make?

I'm asking because I don't want to rely only on my own assumptions. I'd rather learn from readers who have spent years enjoying this genre.

Any advice, even if it's blunt, would be genuinely appreciated.

Hello, I’m an author who recently started serializing a novel on Scribble Hub. I’ve been working on a world-building concept that merges the aesthetics of traditional culture with the cold, logical framework of a superintelligent AI-driven "human growth system." In my head, I have these incredibly exciting and vivid scenes playing out, but as I’ve started posting, the reader engagement has been much quieter than I expected.This has left me feeling a bit discouraged, and it’s led to some fundamental doubts: "Is this concept truly engaging for readers?" or "Am I successfully conveying the fun I envisioned?"I’m reaching out to the writers and dedicated genre fans here to ask for your perspective. When you read progression fantasy or system-based stories, what specific elements truly hook you from the start? For a new author, what are the most crucial areas to focus on to capture a reader's curiosity?My goal isn't just to chase views; rather, I genuinely want to understand how to bridge the gap between my vision and the reader's experience. I really want to turn this into a story that resonates with people and grows alongside its audience. First of all, do you agree with the truth that humans are imperfect? They want to be perfect because they are imperfect. Human civilization developed by using tools. How much of them do you use? Here's the really important question. Do you see AI as a tool? No? Expand it a little bit, and how about AGI? Do you understand both? Then, what if quantum and super-intelligent AGI meet? You know the movie "The Matrix"? Is today's reality really a reality that humans know? Or is it a virtual reality created by humans in the distant future? Did you ask if we understand both? Of course, I only know a little. However, I can't guarantee that the current reality is the real reality as we know it. If you ask why, I will answer that I also understand both a little bit. What about you? Does a dragon in a fantasy novel understand humans? The dramatic question is, can humans understand ants? What about you? Is a super-intelligent AGI a tool? Is it a dragon?
