Explorer with a new suit…

I had a set of custom rosewood plus scales made, added a quick detach leather lanyard I tied, and used brown RIT dye on the pen, tweezers, toothpick, and micro driver to tie it all together. I’m very pleased with the way it all turned out. I believe this will be my daily driver for a while.

Wood and leather Explorer.

I had a set of rosewood Plus scales custom made for my SwissChamp, but decided I wanted to leave that one completely stock. I put the scales on my Explorer, added a leather lanyard, and now I think I’m really digging the new look. It goes nicely with my brown wallet and brown iPhone case to round out my EDC.

Under hood fuse question for 2025 Touring owners…

I have a 2025 Honda touring that I bought in December 2025. It was fresh off the truck, still in shipping mode, and did not yet have the fuses installed in it. The salesperson placed the fuses, and instructed me through the process to take it out of transport mode. It never did have a proper PDI. I adjusted the air pressure myself, calibrated the TPMS, and added the washer fluid to it.

The car has never taken an OTA update, and even the dealership could not get it to connect to Honda servers when I took it to them a few months back. After thinking about it today, I decided to check to see if the salesperson might have missed a fuse. All of the correct fuses seem to be installed under the steering column, but I noticed a missing fuse under the hood. (At least according to the fuse info underneath the plastic cover.) Fuse #19, labeled audio sub, was not placed, even though the panel lid said it should be a 15a fuse. Can anyone with a 2025 Touring confirm whether or not a blue 15a fuse is in location #19? My audio sub works just fine, so perhaps this is a fuse used in other markets or something. I don’t really feel like wasting time going to the dealership only to be told a fuse isn’t needed there.

After 6 months of ownership, my trunk and door locks finally work properly…

tl;dr
I’m an idiot. Don’t be like me.

I have a 2025 Touring I purchased at the end of December this past year. My trunk and walk away door locks have never worked “properly”. They work, but it has been hit or miss. I’m constantly shutting my door when I get out and hearing the rapid beeps. Sometimes I have to stand at the door for a few seconds before it will beep to let me know I am safe to walk away. Other times I have to open and shut it again for it to work. My trunk has never really worked for me. Occasionally it will, but for the most part I have to unlock my doors to get the trunk to open. I noticed that if I move my body so the fob in my pocket is right up against the back of the car it will sometimes finally let me open it. That really sucks when it’s raining, lol.

I often pride myself on how good I am at troubleshooting. I have swapped keys, and replaced the batteries twice over the last few months. Switched the pocket I carry everything in so my body doesn’t block the signal. Nothing seemed to work. I finally just quit caring and assumed it was a quirk of the car. I figured I’d mention it the next time I’m at the dealership, but life goes on. Definitely a first world problem.

Remember how I just mentioned I was pretty good at troubleshooting? Well, this was not one of those occasions. You see, I carry my key fob in my pocket in a small nylon zipper pouch with my DL, CWP, Debit Card, Credit Card, heart meds, and an AirTag. I bought it about 8 years ago, and have used it ever since. It has held the key fob for both of my most recent Camrys, and now my Accord. It finally clicked in my head a couple days ago that the damn thing is RFID blocking. Yep, I’m an idiot. I moved back to the 15 year old zipper pouch I had prior, which is not RFID blocking, and everything has worked perfectly ever since.

It’s nice to finally not have to look like an idiot standing behind my car in the rain at the grocery store for seemingly no reason at all now.
