I created a website that tells you when to hire human over AI

Genuine post cause i’ve had times where i wasted time and money using shitty-mediocre AI tools.

So AI tools keep getting better at creative/business tasks but I still am finding it really hard to know which ones actually replace hiring someone vs. which ones are still worse than a $50 Fiverr gig.

So I built shouldifreelanceit

It's a directory where each task (logo design, copywriting, video editing, voiceover, etc.) gets an honest verdict. That can be AI-ready, partial, or still needs a human. Each one comes with the actual prompt to run, a researched average cost to hire it out, and an honest list of what you'd actually lose going the AI route, even on the tasks where AI wins.

I wanted some platform for honesty on freelance economy because I have spent money on tools that weren't so great and could've gone to a human more skilled and vice versa.

There's 45 tasks live right now across design/writing/video/audio/admin all free to use. I would genuinely love feedback on two things: which verdicts feel wrong to people who actually do this work for a living (that's exactly what the "still hired someone anyway" vote button is for), and what other tasks I should add. I'm sure there's stuff out there I haven't thought of yet.

Inspired by canivibecodeit! I hope you guys like it! :)

Do you guys think AI is actually coming for your freelance gigs?

So i'll be doing random side projects and sometimes just decide to use AI for things to speed up the process and learning curve but realize either it is really good at the task I want it to do or just straight up horrible. The trouble I'm having is seeing these really good ones makes me think there are probably other good tools out there but just under the radar right now. And the other way around I waste time looking for tools when at this time a human far exceeds AI. Do you guys feel these tools will slowly start popping up more and more to replace humans out of freelance work? I have this site shouldifreelanceit.com and was honestly shocked how many tools there are when adding to it but I still feel like a lot of them are just shit and we need humans for things (mainly creative tasks imo). I wonder how soon AI will reach our level and possibly replace us. It would be cool to promote humans over tools because there are so many things we have to offer we all may not know about.

What are yall thoughts?

I am almost sure my 9 to 5 is hurting my health and wellbeing

I've been working a 9 to 5 desk job for a little over 2 years now. I personally hate sitting at a cubicle all day but my job has mandatory 5 days a week attendance :(. I sometimes hear these stories about people getting real health problems from sitting at a desk all day and it scares me. I am an active individual who goes to the gym multiple times a week and plays sports but sometimes it feels like its all being defeated sitting at a desk inside a giant corporate building all day. Also the lack of sunlight and almost jail like feeling cannot be good for mental health overtime. I really do get a sense of relief when i take a quick walk outside but it is sometimes so hard to remember to do little things like that when you get so busy. And I know some people are gonna say welcome to the real world but it truly is not good for you based on some studies I have read. Things like heart problems, slower metabolism, anxiety, productivity all linked to prolonged sitting just to name a few. And yea I can request a standing desk or go walk around my building but there's nothing like walking outside. I guess I would understand the negative affects more if I knew what living like this is doing to my body and mind long term. Anyone else experience this sometimes?

Every year it’s the same conversation:

“yo we should get Ikon this year”
“yeah I’m down”
“ok bet let’s run it”

…silence for 3 weeks…

Then suddenly it’s December and half the group is like
“ehhh it’s kinda expensive this year”
“maybe I’ll just do a couple trips”
“maybe next season”

Now Ikon drops the Squad Pack and it’s actually a good deal… but you need 5 people who are all:

  • financially responsible at the same time
  • mentally ready to commit
  • not ghosting

so basically… impossible

I ski Mammoth a decent amount and even then it’s been weirdly hard to lock in a full group. Feels like a lot of people are stuck in that middle zone of wanting the pass but not pulling the trigger unless everything lines up perfectly.

I started looking around to see if anything exists to help coordinate this and honestly couldn’t find much—ended up building something called Waddl that tries to match people into Squad Pack groups with some guardrails so no one gets screwed.

Not even sure if people would actually use something like that though, so I’m curious:

  • did you already get your pass?
  • anyone actually manage to pull off the Squad Pack?
  • or is your group chat also just vibes and no execution
  • and would you ever squad up with randoms if there were some safety nets?

If interested i’m happy to share!

I tried getting a group together for an Ikon pass and it was way harder than I expected. Price was the biggest blocker every time. Even for people who wanted to ski, a few of them just ended up not going at all.

Now with the Squad Pack, the savings are somewhat more bearable, but coordinating 4–5 people who are all ready to commit at the same time feels almost impossible. I ski Mammoth like 20 days a season with a bunch of people and even I couldn’t pull it off.

Curious how people are handling this. Are you just locking it in with close friends, or is there some better way to find people who are actually ready to commit?

Seen some posts where people try to group up with strangers, but honestly I wouldn’t feel great sending money to people I don’t know.

Part of me feels like there should be an easier/safer way to do this, but maybe I’m overthinking it. How are you guys dealing with it?

Last season I spent weeks trying to convince my friends to commit to Ikon passes. The price was the biggest hurdle every single time. Some of them just gave up and didn't ski at all.

This year Ikon introduced the Squad Pack where you can save some good money if you know enough people but thats such a struggle to find.

I ski Mammoth about 20 days a season and even I struggle to coordinate this. A lot of people in my age group are in the same boat — they want the discount but don't know enough people who are ready to commit right now.

So I built Waddl. It matches you with 4 other verified skiers in your age range so you can unlock the Squad Pack together. Your money sits in escrow the whole time — nobody gets charged until all 5 people confirm they received their pass. No risk of someone running off with your money.

I'm 23, from San Diego, and genuinely just tired of watching people skip skiing because of the price when deals like this exist and could be the step to get them back into a sport we all love. The Squad Pack is available right now and people are actively buying — I'm launching Waddl very soon to make it easier for everyone!

Dropping the waitlist today to get some early feedback and let people lock in their spot. Would love to hear any concerns or questions, what would make you feel comfortable using something like this?
