Visiting London in late September, any tips for going to the Folio store? (And Folio Vault? And used bookstores?)

I'll be in London in late September to visit family and plan on visiting the Folio Society store. I assume outside of a sale (flash or regular), their prices in-store are the same as online, is that right? Or is there a chance I might find something discounted?

And likewise for the Folio Vault - where I see one needs to make an appointment to visit, is that right?

Lastly, while I'm in London, are there any secondhand bookstores that a Folio-aware local would recommend I visit? For example here in Toronto I'd say the BMV at Yonge/Dundas as they often have a good selection of used Folios at a decent price. Which store has the best used Folio selection outside of the above two?

Thanks!

How are you supposed to play Carmageddon Max Pack correctly? Handling is too difficult?

I just got this game off of GOG, having fond memories of it as a kid in the late '90s, and am excited to play it. I installed the guy's mod off of Github and dove in - it looked and played well.

However, I quickly realized it's either really hard or I'm not playing it right. The big problem I'm having, as others have noted, is the handling. It feels less like you're driving the car and more like you're fighting to control it to go where you want to go. It's quite frustrating when the core mechanic to the game isn't just racing, but trying to specifically navigate your way into squashing people - when that precise navigation feels difficult you're left wondering what you're doing wrong.

I figured there would be some way to upgrade your handling, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I also can't figure out how to unlock more cars. I figured perhaps it would happen naturally I continued to play, but I'm having quite a bit of difficulty on the second track (the one with the loop-de-loop). Which led me to wonder: am I playing this game wrong? Is there something I'm missing? Perhaps it's just an issue with retro game design and you're supposed to bash your head against it, in which case maybe I should just jump to the sequel (have they fixed handling there)?

Perhaps you're just supposed to grind away at the first track until you can upgrade your car (does any of the three main stats help with handling)? Or perhaps I need to learn the courses better to speed through them quickly and get a better car with better handling?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

At what point are corner dings considered "part of manufacturing" and at what point do they affect the grade?

I know the answer to my question is "it depends", but I really don't have a sense of what is and isn't considered a defect.

First up I've got a copy of Exquisite Corpses #1, third printing. The top right corner has a ding, and I'm not sure if that's considered a defect or qualifies as "part the printing process"?

And at the end I've got a picture from today's Absolute Green Arrow #1 - a much smaller corner ding, but one nonetheless - does this count as a defect?

Would love to get your thoughts on how a grading company like CGC would handle these.

Reading "I Hate Fairyland" for the first time and loving it!

Just got to volume 5 and was excited to dig into Gert's new situation when I realized... there are no covers in this thing! Not at the start of each issue and not in the back of the book. Why the hell would they cut out the cover art?! We just get a lame "2" or "3" with a faded BG image for each issue/chapter. Stupid Fresh Mess seems pretty on top of their properties so it's weird they would allow this. Enjoying the covers is like, I don't know, 30% of the fun of a comic book!

I'm reading it digitally on GlobalComix and am just assuming that's the same version you'd find elsewhere, but if not, let me know.

Anyone able to solve this mystery?

Thanks!

You know what does NOT inspire consumer confidence? When you do a firmware update and suddenly your device, which worked just fine for years, no longer works.

Because I got tired of my Ledger Nano X not letting me turn it off 50% of the time (that delightful bug where you press both buttons to power it off, but it won't respond, and so you just have to let it drain its charge), I figured it was time to update the firmware - maybe they'd fixed that problem?

I updated the firmware via the Ledger Wallet app on my PC. It actually updated it twice, once, then again to an even more current version. So far so good.

When I went to connect the ledger to my Macbook Air (which I only use for crypto, don't do any crypto on my daily driver PC), it seemed to connect just fine (draw power). BUT when I tried to sign a transaction via Metamask, it gives me the "Connect Ledger" button, which I click, and then it takes me to a "connection / continue" button, saying it's not getting info from the ledger and I should check my cable and blah blah.

While it was briefly giving me the battery E7 warning, that is no longer the case. I do not think this is the battery/warming issue others have had. This thing charges just fine on both my PC and my Macbook Air. I connected it via bluetooth to the Ledger Wallet app on the Macbook, but it seems that won't let me sign Metamask transactions either. (I've never used the bluetooth functionality before, I assume it only works with MM on a mobile?)

I'd really love it if I didn't just ruin my Nano X by updating the firmware, but if you can't use your super important crypto signing device to sign transactions... then...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS
It seems that, indeed, the "power off" bug has been fixed, as I've been able to actually turn it off three or four times in a row now, which was not the case previously. So at least that's fixed. It only cost me the device itself. Score!

EDIT
FIXED! The solution was, as mentioned below, to try and re-add the hardware ledger to MM. Because the accounts were already there I couldn't select them (already selected in the UI), but first it asked me to give it access via the Apple OS menu, which I did, and that seemed to resolve the issue. Didn't even have to remove or re-add the accounts, just get that UI notice to pop up in the OS interface. Thanks to everyone who helped.

PS
Not long after putting up this post I got FOUR separate DMs from people offering to help - obviously scammers. Kind of crazy how infested this sub is with scammers. I assume the mods can't do much to help with that, but I'd consider putting a notice up, or pin, or at the top of the sub rules, that as soon as you post asking for help about anything a bunch of people will DM you, and you should pretty much ignore them all.
