Hey everyone! I’m studying gentrification in Greater Geneva for my thesis and I need to choose a few case studies.

In your opinion, which French communes neighbouring Geneva have experienced the most pronounced socioeconomic change in the last two-ish decades? 2000-s onwards is also okay.

Specifically, if you observed increases in housing prices, new upscale residential developments, influx of high-income, educated people! And overall shifts in the character of the area count too.

I’d also appreciate hearing about places that \*\*haven’t\*\* changed much - they could be useful comparison! E.g. rich communes that stayed rich and poor communes that stayed poor.

I’m writing my master’s thesis on cross-border mobility in Greater Geneva. I am analysing big data and producing maps that tell me how people move within Greater Geneva. This includes people that cross the French-Swiss border and people that do not.

Another point is analysing cities that are not Geneva but are fast emerging as secondary “centres” within this region. Clearly Geneva dominates, but maybe places like Annecy or Annemasse see an increase in commuters for work, leisure, etc.?

I’ve been writing my thesis for so long at this point I am doubting it even matters to anyone besides me. I’m not swiss nor french so I really could not answer this myself.

Please tell me how often you think about Greater Geneva. I feel like I’m going insane.
