are there changes or am I imagining it?

I’ve been training consistently for a while now and I think I see some changes, but I can’t tell if it’s real progress or just me imagining it.

DIM from getting a red Apple Watch

I found a really cheap Apple Watch Series 8 with 100% battery health and it honestly seems like such a good deal… BUT yep, it’s red.

I keep going back and forth because spec-wise it’s probably the better buy compared to the SE2 I also found (96% battery health).

should i get a second hand apple watch series 7 or se 2 for fitness/calorie tracking?

hi! I’m mainly planning to use the watch for calorie tracking, lifting, pilates, stairmaster/cardio, etc. Basically, for steps/activity

i found a second hand series 7 with 90% battery health, but im also considering getting a second hand se 2 instead.

i dont really care about super advanced features, mostly just accurate fitness/calorie tracking and decent battery life.

Why do I feel different glutes depending on the exercise?

I noticed something weird with my glute exercises and I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this.

For kickbacks, I mostly feel my LEFT glute working, even when my RIGHT leg is the one doing the movement. And when my left leg works, I still mainly feel the left glute.

But for single-leg wall squats, I feel my RIGHT glute more. When my left side is working, the right leg that’s against the wall also gets tired from stabilizing.

My left leg is also noticeably more flexible than my right, so I’m wondering if that affects it too.

There’s no pain, it just feels like each side “takes over” differently depending on the exercise. Has anyone dealt with this? Is it just a stability/mind-muscle connection imbalance?

Alternatives for single-leg wall squats due to groin pain

I’ve been doing single-leg wall squats as part of my glute training and I actually really liked them because I could really feel my glutes working after a few reps.

The issue is I’ve started getting groin pain when I do them, so I need to stop or modify them for now.

The problem is I started doing as an alternative to RDLs because I don’t really feel them in my glutes.

I’m also having a hard time feeling cable/band kickbacks in my glutes — I mostly feel it in my opposite glute or sometimes none at all, it just exhausts me

kimbap

could this be 550? i weighed the rice from each slice without the eggs and veggies, and it came out to 20g each. i multiplied that by 12, so 240g = 312 cals. i’m just unsure how much i should estimate for the veggies, egg filling, and the seaweed wrap. is 550 accurate, or am i underestimating it way too much?

does my cardio really kill my “gains”?

i do pilates 4–5x a week, and i do the lulrlur workout split + 45 mins cardio every session.

im on the lower weight side >! 41kg, 5’5 !<(underweight) but i want to get to a “normal” weight with muscle. i eat enough protein for my body weight (recommended amount), and i eat around 1.6k–1.7k calories a day which i think is my maintenance.

im okay with gaining weight, especially if it’s from muscle. do i really need to give up the stairmaster? i actually like it and look forward to it.

protein bar cals

Shouldn’t this be 224 calories based on the macros? Or does the presence of artificial sweeteners/sugar alcohols make the listed calorie count somewhat accurate? Like, does the calorie value of carbs change depending on where the carbs are coming from, or is it always the same no matter what?

Feeling lethargic + anxious at the gym lately… anyone else go through this?

I don’t really know what changed, but lately I feel super lethargic in the gym and I’m starting to get anxious before my workouts. I used to actually look forward to lifting, but now I kind of dread it and even feel scared when I’m about to start.

For example, hip thrusts used to be my favorite when I was lifting around 10kg because I could really feel them. Now I’m at 43kg and I honestly dread it. By like 5 reps I’m already out of breath and it feels so heavy. Today I got to 8 reps, but during the set I don’t really feel it working—just that it’s getting harder and harder to lift. Then a few minutes after, I finally feel it in my glutes.
Because of that, I end up feeling disappointed in myself, like I didn’t perform well or had a bad workout. Even if I \\\*do\\\* feel it after, the whole session just feels “off” because I felt lethargic the whole time.

I also notice I feel really low energy mid-workout, especially when I know I still have more exercises left. It’s like I lose motivation and everything feels heavier mentally and physically.

I’ve tried sipping an energy drink during workouts and eating bananas / candy for quick energy, but I still feel lethargic and kind of anxious.
Has anyone else gone through this? How did you deal with the anxiety/dread and get your energy back?

edit: I just finished my cardio tonight after lifting, and I noticed something weird. I \\\*was\\\* feeling lethargic during my lifts, and even going into the StairMaster I still felt kind of drained. But after doing like 50 minutes of StairMaster, I suddenly feel… alive? Like my energy just switched on out of nowhere. I don’t even feel as exhausted anymore compared to earlier in the workout. Not sure what that means but it was such a strange shift.

i bought this wafer ice cream sandwich and the nutrition label says the entire pack (45g) is only 80 kcal. it’s not marketed as “diet” ice cream or anything either 😭

nutrition says:
80 kcal
2g fat
8g sugar
1g protein

it honestly tastes like a normal light ice cream sandwich so now i’m suspicious lmao. has anyone seen products like this actually be accurate or could this be a labeling error?

Hi! I’m a bit confused about maintenance calories and I wanted to ask if this makes sense or if I’m misunderstanding something.

I’m around 5’5 and on the lower weight side, and my estimated maintenance is about 1.7k calories. I also do a mix of level 6 stairmaster (30–45 mins), some lifting, and pilates.

But I keep seeing someone who is:
taller than me
heavier than me
has more muscle
also lifts regularly
and their maintenance is around 1.5k.

I’m confused because I thought being bigger and having more muscle usually means higher maintenance. I don’t want to compare in a negative way, I’m really just trying to understand how this works and if I might be overestimating mine. Should I reconsider how I calculated my maintenance?
