very interesting take, would love to know y'all's views

so, the video of the girl proposing to her partner, getting on one knee is going viral and well, its mostly getting "hate comments" according to men.

so, i wanna know y'all ladies' takes on this! as a feminist, im all about whatever a man does, a woman can do better if not the same, but at the same time, the lover (from a woman's perspective) in me says, if a man really loves you, he would definitely propose early and show the world that he's so sure about you, because men can be quite decisive and turn the world upside down for their one true love, so what's a mere proposal? (talking from a sorta personal experience)

again, there might be more story to it, but lets talk about whatever we know!

so yeah, drop your views in the comments.

oil painting, but on ivory sheets?

i might get hate for this idk, but i started oil painting over 2 years ago, and I wasn't much aware of the rules, but i had ivory sheets only, so i started painting on those.

the results are great! the paint dries quite fast, smooth blending (I don't like painting multiple layers) and best of all, I haven't seen any damage on the sheet or the painting itself even after years. it has saved me a ton of time and money. i have used other medium of paints as well, but oils are my favorite!

i also use canvases though, and i always do an acrylic underpainting on sheets and canvas. just sharing it here to know, if there are other artists who use unconventional surfaces instead of regular ones :)

(ps, i am not a professional painter, and sorry if i hurt environmentalists)

is No. 35 Gallery UK legit?

i got my painting selected and received an email. i am supposed to pay the entry fees now, but I don't really understand the process, on how the shipping and everything will be done?

for context, I'm from Asia and not a professional painter and this is my first time applying from exhibitions (and im broke too) so please help a fellow artist out! thanks!

watercolors are harder than oilpaints

no shade to watercolors, im actually amazed at how skillful the artists are. but after being a realism oil painter for years, i say wc is much much harder than oil huhu

what d'y'all think?

sorry if the flair is wrong. xo

portfolio making guide

sorry if this has been asked before, but i want to understand portfolio making.

a little background; I am a self taught oil painter and have been painting (various media, but now oils) for 7 years now. i used to paint realism for fun before, but now i am seriously considering this to step up my art.

however, I don't know if the paintings I've made over the years count in for a standard portfolio. i usually paint in comparatively smaller sizes (A3 sized) and I don't have a specific theme (except, all paintings are based on realism or surrealism). i also don't have a proper social media presence, i post on tiktok sometimes.

art is not my main profession, but i wanna consider being a part time artist, doing commissioned works, and the place i come from, they usually are not the fan of my works so i never get any commissioned works. and i have not been able to get into exhibitions as well (it sucks). so if anybody can suggest anything regarding this, I'd really be grateful!
