Curious how women managed before antibiotics

How did women centuries ago deal with UTIs? Did they just die from them? Were chronic UTIs even a thing back then or did the body fight them off for the lucky ones? I'm glad we live in a time where antibiotics and modern medicines are available, but sometimes I do wonder how we managed ages ago.

Uncircumcised Partner causing post sex CUTI?

For those women that have gotten recurrent UTI with a new partner, I'm curious whether they were circumcised or uncircumcised?

Especially wondering for those who also dealt with ureaplasma/mycoplasma, BV, irritation, etc. Did condoms, hygiene changes, or treatment make any difference?

I’m curious if anyone has noticed patterns in their own experience. My partner is uncircumcised for reference and I've been getting consistent e coli UTIs every 2 months since we stopped using condoms.

Testing me and my partner

I'm in Canada, how do you Canadians go about testing for ureaplasma? Urine or semen culture for the man? Swab and urine for woman? I'm testing because I've been getting UTIs with my boyfriend and never had them before.

Has anyone taken Vulbiotic suppositories?

Curious to see if anyone has tried these? These seem to be the only ones that ship to Canada that contain L. crispatus. Anyone in Canada have rec's for that strain? Can't seem to find it anywhere

Dr. Tim Hlavinka Passing Recurrent UTI between Partners

What are your thoughts on Dr. Tim? He seems to claim he's treated multiple couples with antibiotics with great success for sex related recurrent UTIs. My urologist told me it's impossible for the man to pass a UTI to a woman, but I've been learning a lot about the microbiome and I'm thinking Dr. Tim may be onto something here.

Treating the men

I saw a comment here from a lady that said she had recurrent UTI's for 18 years while with her husband, after he was treated, she was UTI free for 14 months! This made my think of my situation, I started dating my boyfriend a year ago, we were active using condoms up until September of last year and that's when I got my first UTI. Then we've used condoms on and off and I've had 4 UTIs spread about 2 months apart each. Always e coli. Prior to this I only had 2 UTI in my life with different people, years apart.

Was wondering if any of you ladies got your partner treated and had success? Maybe this is the answer....

Seeing a herbalist for CUTI

Out of desperation I've decided to try seeing a herbalist for my chronic UTI issue. He did identify issues in my bladder area without me telling him from his testing. Has anyone done this before? I'm going to post an update in a few months after I'm done the herbal treatment.

I am now resistant to Cipro after 4 UTIs. I'm worried if I have more I'll become resistant to Macrobid.. Anyone on here have that experience? If so, what do they have you on now??

My family doctor seems to think my chronic UTIs might be kidney stone related. He noted blood in my urine culture test being abnormal, even for UTI. I had no crystals in my urine. I will do an MRI and US soon. But my UTI seems to always be around sex, so I thought they were sex related. Anybody else experiencing this and find out it was because of kidney stones?
