Hi yall! I’m coming into CU Boulder this semester as a transfer student. I know classes start the 20th, but that day all I have is a recitation class. Is there a way to find out if we need to show up for that? It doesn’t make sense that I would need to attend that when I haven’t had the actual lecture/lab yet.
Thanks!
What is everyones favorite shoes for working in a spa? I need a new pair, preferably sneakers so they can be comfy. I currently wear Vans and they're on their last leg and honestly I need more support.
We are clearing out my partner’s late grandmother’s house and cannot seem to figure out what to do with this nice solid wood China cabinet!! Any donation centers who take them? So far been told no by Good Will and Habitat for Humanity Restore.
We’re in Levittown, PA.
And YALL, we had a BLAST.
As a bisexual woman, one of the first things I do when I date a man is talk to him about this and make sure he is friendly, homophobia is an obvious absolute deal breaker. However, unfortunately a lot of men sexualize bisexual women and you don’t always know how they really feel until you know. I’ve experienced this more than once and needless to say, that did not ever work out.
However, this was absolutely not the case with my current partner. We’ve been together a little over a year so I already had a pretty good idea of who I was dating, but it’s just great to have real reassurance. The way this man was dancing with everybody, so outgoing, sporting pride gear, and totally comfortable in the environment just warmed my lil heart. There was absolutely 0 judgement toward anyone at the festival, we ended up staying for almost 11 hours because we were just having too much fun dancing the night away. He can come off a little rough around the edges at times so it was so fun to really let loose and have fun!
I know I know, the bar for straight men really feels like it’s in hell sometimes because, like, not being homophobic should not come as a surprise… but as a southern woman especially, he just feels like such a breath of fresh air for me. It’s really great to know I can feel safe and secure with my partner and that he isn’t harboring secret bigoted feelings.
Just feeling really smitten by him and I had to share. This is my first really, truly healthy relationship and it’s crazy how things like this really remind me of that.
I lost my souldog almost exactly a month ago. He was 11, and he was definitely slowing down. In his last week, I could tell he was in pain, and it turned out that he had two big tumors in his abdomen which explained his issued going up and down the stairs in previous months.
He was my best friend. I navigated my early twenties with him and we did everything together. I am outdoorsy and enjoy hiking and swimming, and as a lab these were his favorite things as well. I really like being alone but having him as a companion was perfect. I made a point to schedule days to do things together just me and him that I knew he enjoyed. He always came first.
In the last year, he was slowing down. His joints hurt even with his supplement. I couldn't take him to do much because it felt wrong to get him in and out of the car and drag him places. We were relegated to a short walk every day accompanied with A LOT of sniffing stops. I was okay with that, but it felt like I had been grieving even then, because I always wondered how much time we had left. I really spoiled him in the last year, I joked that it was his "bad dog" years because he became more stubborn and I gave him lots of extra treats and special privileges. I don't regret any of it.
But now, it's like a piece of me is gone. I hate being home. I still enjoy being alone and doing things alone, but it's not the same without him. I miss taking him on walks. I'm trying to be away from home as much as possible, going to my boyfriend's house, riding my bike everywhere, long walks, anything that stops me from being where he is supposed to be. But I always find myself back here at the end of the day, walking in without his greetings, going to sleep without him next to me, it all just feels wrong. I have never loved or relied on anybody like that in my entire life. He's the reason I was able to allow myself to get close to people. He taught me it was okay to let people in and love people. I never would have grown in the way I did without him.
I decided to give up alcohol and weed for the summer so that I could allow myself to grieve. It makes it harder now but I know it's the right choice. I just don't know how to handle being home anymore. What used to feel like a safe space to decompress now feels like a giant reminder of him. I can't get anything done. I have responsibilities that are falling behind because I just want to lay down and zone out anytime I'm forced to be here. I don't know how to handle it. I don't know how to move on. I miss him so much and every day feels like a reminder that I won't get to hug him ever again. How did y'all find your motivation to go on after losing your soul dog?
UPDATE 1: Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to give me recommendations on good shelters and rescues. I have been reaching out to every possible location today (although the time difference is difficult because I keep forgetting that it is a couple of hours later there). I have sent numerous emails and made lots of phone calls. I am reaching out to each and every resource that was provided here and I want to let everyone know that I will not stop until I find a safe and viable option for Ms. Baby. It may take some time but it is well worth it to make sure she is in good and caring hands. Again, thank you to all of yall! I will update again when there is an update to be shared.
Looking for recommendations for local fosters/shelters currently accepting older cats (about 9 years old).
My partner’s grandmother recently passed and left behind a sweet but skittish cat and there is nobody we know in the area who would be able to take her in. There is somebody going to the house daily to feed her but we need to remove her from the house soon as we are trying to clean it up in order to get it on the market.
I have contacted the Buck’s county SPCA, the women’s animal shelter, stray cat blues, and cat tales rescues and have had no luck so far.
Looking for recommendations on places to take this cat as my partner and I both live in Colorado and are not able to take her in.
Helping my partner sell some old furniture since his grandmother passed away. We found this vintage fireplace and think it is really cool and seems to be a rare find. We know it was purchased at some time in the 1940s. We’re curious if it would be worth doing some minor repairs/maintenance before we sell it or if it’s okay as-is. Everything seems to be in working order.
Also, any tips on where to sell for the best value would be much appreciated! We’re in the Philadelphia area. Considered Facebook marketplace or Etsy but we want to get it to a collector if possible.
