Special need.- smaller scale set?

Looking for something about 3/4 scale compared to standard. Ideally a round board, non-glare surface, with high contrast tiles with bold print to offset the potential problem of seeing smaller tiles. Have looked at various “travel” sets but they all fell short of requirements for various reasons.

Anybody already offer something like this, or should I be looking for a custom fabrication?

How to hang plants on tne outside

We just finished assembling our greenhouse (Backyard Discovery “Poppy” 9x6) Wife want to hang some pots from the front rail of the pergola, upper left of photo. Have considered simple hooks but she’s says she’ll want to deadhead the flowers sometimes and not have to climb a ladder.

Best approach? Hang some pulleys up there, add cleats to the front of the greenhouse to hold the line?

EDIT TO ADD: Found "Retractable Plant Pulleys" on Amazon. Such a simple and obvious thing, but I didn't know they existed or even the right name.

Cutting a hole in a fence

Bottom line up front - how practical would it be to cut a roughly 2' x 3' hole in this fence (preferred location outlined in red) that can be easily removed & replaced as needed?

Why: Corner of our yard faces an unimproved, overgrown lot having an absentee owner. Several times a month I hang tools on the edge of our fence and walk or ride my bike around the block to get to that side for pruning/weeding. The fence is a couple feet inside of our property line so I'm not trespassing.

I've thought about climbing over but I don't have long enough ladder(s). Our lot is on higher ground and fence sits atop a retaining all - so it's bit under 5' tall on our side but more like 7' on the other.

I don't want cut the horizontal 2x4's tying it to the fence post on the right side of this picture or do anything else that might weaken the fence. Ideally I'd like it to be not noticeable unless you look closely.

Suggestions?

Cut the staves on both sides screw and them onto a frame?

pushmi-pullyu razor?

I shave in with Bic Flex 3 disposables. Yesterday I dropped one, and the head popped off. I was able to snap it back on but when I started to shave it didn’t work - because I had put the thing on backwards.

Curious, I tried gently pushing the razor to see if it would work. And it did! I got a really smooth close shave in most places, no nicks. It did drag/tug at a couple of spots so I just backed off there. Later I was able to snap the head back off and replace it the right way around.

Ever the mad scientist, I wonder if anyone has ever made shaver that designed to be used that way? A blade along both sides, one angled to push the other side to pull.

Combined paddle+cap wrench concept

Retrying this as my first image got mangled when I pasted it in. Has anyone made something like this? I've sketched it without the lands and grooves it would need to grip the cap but I hope it gets the idea across. Normally the notches on sides would give enough grip to make it easier to get the cap off, but if you needed more torque you could grip the long end (wipe the coffe grounds off of it first! 😃 ).

How to pay CE renewal fee

A+/ce coming up for renewal soon. I've completed uploading my CEU documentation for this cycle and click the link to pay renewal fees - it takes me to a page that asks me to enter a voucher or to click on another link to purchase a voucher. When I get there it has some info about vouchers but not any way I can see to to select & buy one. I've tried their online help and it directed me back those page where I had just been. I sent an email to CompTIA's support a few days ago and hear nothing back yet, not even an auto-responder telling me that had my request and would get back to me ...

Is there another CompTIA certification I need to learn to use their website? /s

Power to greenhouse - how to run the cable

Backyard Discovery "Poppy"9x6 green house build in progress. It's about 15 feet away from our back porch and the nearest electrical outlet. What's the most cost effective way to supply power for the cooling fan?

CHEAPEST way would be to run an outdoor extension cord from the back porch to the greenhouse with some careful routing and flags to prevent trip hazards. Looking for something a bit less redneck but hoping not to need going all out on a new dedicate outlet, conduit, buried cable, etc...

EDIT TO ADD: What I called the "cheapest / redneck" way approach is what Backyard says to do - run an extension cord from a GCFI outlet to the power port they supply in the kit. I assume they don't see excessive hazard or legal liability from that recommendation - but to me it seems inelegant.

Battery / rechargeable coffee making gear - recommendations

Please recommend a coffee grinder and some kind of water boiler that can run from built in rechargeable battery. Intended use is making a few cups daily with an Aeropress at home where it will get plugged in routinely to stay charged. Occasional need (to justify battery) for making coffee during power outages and sometimes also when traveling.

Temperature monitoring and what else can you do with old Blinks?

Anyone else using their old cameras in an unusual way?

I have a couple Blink Outdoor cameras I haven't used for over a year.

We just put a greenhouse in our back yard and I'm gonna put one out there to monitor the temperature. Don't even intend to enable motion detectio use it as a camera so I figure the battery will last for a very long time.

What other "off-label" uses do you have for an older Blink?
