Update to yesterday

Hi all, I posted yesterday asking about colic in my 18 year old boy.
We transported him to the equine hospital, the surgeon did an exam and determined his colon flipped and was trapped. They gave medicine to help his pain, but he was still uncomfortable hours later and unable to relax. We decided to do a trochanter (long needle aspiration of gas) and then medicine to shrink the spleen with the hope the colon could go back where it belongs. It worked!! The surgeon said he’s doing much better this morning and can eat. Thank you for all the responses yesterday! Pic of my boy (his name is Cloud).

Horse had weird symptoms, possibly colic today

Yesterday I got a call from my boarding stables that my horse had front leg swelling, plus scabby drainage. When I got there both front legs were swollen and he was leaking fluid (serous) from his legs. He did have crusty skin flaking off. The vet came, said possibly anaplasmosis but he’d never seen anaplasmosis that only affected front legs. My horse was not having problems with walking (I.e limping). You could tell his legs hurt him. Did walking, cold hosing, wrapping the legs. Vet did two iv antibiotics, steroid injection plus anti inflammatories. This morning it seems my boy is going to colic. I’m waiting for the vet to come out. My horse is 18, has anyone had a horse this age colic? Did you do surgery? Is he too old?

Slime mold in incubator water reservoir, help!

I’m on my first attempt at incubating eggs. We lost our rooster Timmy and I wanted to see if I could get some chicks from him and my girls while I still had fertile eggs. This is my first attempt to incubate eggs. I’m in the final three days of lockdown, so no more turning (automatic turner). Last night before lockdown I candled my eggs one last time, and I noticed what looks like a slime mold in my center water reservoir. My husband thinks I should take all the eggs out and disinfect the whole thing, then put the eggs back in. I was under the impression you shouldn’t move them at all in this time period. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Slime in incubation water reservoir, chicks coming in 3 days!

Hi all, was hoping someone could help?
My 2 week old newborn is a huge puker. I’m not talking about the little spit up amounts, I’m talking like at least twice a day (always after eating) she will regurgitate almost everything in her body. It’s like someone taking a full glass of warm milk and tossing it over both of us. This is on top of 1-3 tbsp pukes, and the normal spit ups (tsp) here and there.
I’ve spoken to my lactation office, they suggested trying feeding in different positions (laying flat with her on top, and side feeding) before calling back if not successful.
I’ve also spoken to the pediatrician, who mentioned maybe reclining her sleeping places by 5-15 degrees. I’ve been trying to do one thing at a time so that I know if a change I’ve made is helpful.
My first born did not puke at all, he had one exorcist vomit but that was the one time in his baby career. This is like being a first time parent and not knowing shit 🤷🏼‍♀️I feel like everyone is dismissing me when I say something (babies puke! That’s what they do!) like, I know that, it’s just that the amount seems really excessive.
It doesn’t really seem to bother her to puke. She gets a little fussy, then pukes, and then is totally fine. Even wants to nurse more. She does not seem to be uncomfortable (like arching her back etc).
My partner was in the (babies puke! Camp)… but then she prolific vomited on him and he agreed that it seemed like an excessive amount.
I’m still working with my consultants and pediatricians, I just wanted to know if anyone has been through something similar.
I do want to make a note: she is gaining weight and growing out of her clothes, so I know she is getting nutrition!
