8x6 Car Incident felt odd

Second time watching through season 8, both times I've felt there's something really off about the whole explosion situation near the end of the episode. Like 'oh by the way the station blew up. Now onto more pressing matters-'. Sort of underwhelming for the choice of background music and the cinematography, in a weird way. I don't know. Anyone else feel that way? Like there's supposed to be something more to what should be a catastrophe than the sort of mild-moderate inconvenience (which sounds really bad when I say that) it got mushed down into.

The use of the term 'pack' to describe a group of canned drinks suggests they are predatory, as opposed to 'herd' which would suggest prey

Filament not loading

SOLVED, can't figure out how to edit the title though.

Didn't use it for a few weeks, unloaded filament (Bambu PLA Basic Bronze, it snapped a lot), got all the broken bits out, then went to load the new filament (Sunlu PLA+ Black) and it's just not loading.

The printer is loading, telling me to put the filament in, but nothing happens and I can easily pull it out.

Does anyone know why and if it's hopefully an easy fix or I'm pulling the entire thing apart?

How bugs don't respect the concept of 'my' house

Spiders are something else. They exist out of pure malice and cruel intentions directly towards me. But before the bug fans come at me, I can accept that they (not spiders) have a purpose, but for the love of my sanity can they just not come into my room, at least? Would it kill them to accept that?

A wasp would attack me for going into its house but if I attack it for going into my house now I'm the issue, according to the wasps.

Can someone teach the flies and the moths that this is a capitalist society and if they're going to infiltrate my home they NEED to pay rent or get out.

Can they just get their own home and respect that I will not remove them from the material plane if they STAY OUTSIDE MY ROOM. Not even just the house in general, just my room. They're not an issue if they're outside but they're the biggest issue if they're in here.

Coin-shaped enough?

Anyone else collect these? I get them when I see them, as it's usually just a fiver or so. Please ignore that the Canterbury one is silver and the rest gold.

Why are so many people making 'AI mistakes' posts, about things that they intentionally asked it?

I've been seeing so many people post things going 'look how stupid AI is' and they asked it (intentionally, I might add, not done kind of involuntary AI shoehorning like the Google summary) something silly like 'help I'm a baby goose' or 'words without x' - what are you expecting it to do? We all know AI is dumb. We should also know that if you ask AI a dumb question, you'll get an especially dumb answer.

So why are people doing it? How exactly does 'proving' a point we all already know by using AI unnecessarily help to reduce the use of AI?

For those who are going to ask me questions: please note I am very busy this week, so I'm not responding quickly.

That I can only make one save in Pokémon games

I want to replay this but I don't want to vaporise all the Pokémon I have on my current save. They aren't all going to fit in Pokémon home. But no. Either I reset all my save progress or I make a new account and lose access to any Pokémon I want to transfer over. Why. Who's idea was this. I think a lot of Nintendo games do this, not just Pokémon, but I don't have a lot of Nintendo games so.

Region-locked Pokémon, Torkoal specifically?

I'm in England, but Torkoal is one of if not my favourite Pokémon. Unfortunately, I however do not have the ability to travel to a Torkoal country, not will to go to one specifically on the off chance of catching a little guy.

I know there's trading, but that requires people being next to me and I know no one with a Torkoal. That leaves events then, right? Is Torkoal likely to come up in an event? It doesn't seem like a very popular Pokémon. Is there just a general region-locked event?

Please excuse my potential ignorance. I play this casually and don't really know what I'm doing.

I hate how much stories/books/films/media about animals is almost always geared towards children

The hare (not a rabbit) is for attention mostly.

I see a lot that if something is about animals, it's also aimed at a child audience. Similar with dinosaurs. With the exception of documentaries, it just seems to be trying to create this weird idea that you can only like animals if you're a child.

Most films with an animal, usually a dog, as the main character, are kids films. If I went to the 'animals' section of my school library (to be fair, that was a school library, but there were some higher reading level/adult-er books there), it's mostly Micheal Morpurgo (hope I spelt that right) books which honestly despite being clearly directed towards children tended to have quite sad endings. 6 year old me was not prepared for some of those. Sometimes some Megan Rix ones. No hate to the authors, the books were great.

Watership Down, for example, is a weird one. It was originally written as a children's story, but features a fair bit of violence and death. Hell it got banned in a LOT of American schools, thankfully not over in the UK. The adaptations though are all PG/U/whatever, with a similar animation style to kids movies. That's a whole other issue of 'animation is for children'.

Call of the Wild and White Fang are great examples of books about animals but not necessarily for children. Admittedly the 2018 film adaptation of White Fang (haven't seen the others) was so far off the book and lacking in the fights and attacks of the book, but eh they tried.

Shape-shifter ish plots also suffer from the weird mix. On one hand, Chronicles of Ancient Darkness (Wolf Brother etc), that one about some fox kid that I forgot the name of, and I believe Woodwalkers, are about children and written for children. On the other hand, the Tiger and the Wolf trilogy is an example of books that are very much not. That one was a bit up for interpretation-y on what some of the animals were. I might have to re-read that. Wolfblood is YA, which is better than kiddie.

Jurassic Park pretty much opens with the death of a child. The books were definitely adult, or YA at least. I'm glad the films didn't get TOO scraped to make it kid-friendly, but I wish they'd stopped at Dominion, or at least changed it so it wasn't Jurassic 'World' anymore.

I know more mature (mature but not nsfw) animal books, films, show, games etc exist, but it's overwhelmingly more kid-centred

Same goes for zoos (and by extent their gift shops) being mostly a 'family day out' situation and not a 'i am a grown woman looking to learn more about animals' situation

How do I stop the spiders?

I think the spiders of the rest of the world have different rules because the internet stuff isn't working. Cinnamon sticks everywhere but guess what? I just scared shitless by a spider like a foot away from my head that I thought was just the pipes making noises until I turned the light on. Conkers too. Spiders are pure evil so I got superstitious and hung up hagstones. I can't stop them. I'm terrified. I haven't tried lavender or peppermint stuff because I don't like the smell either but I might have to

Are these particularly rare or just elusive?

I keep seeing this £2 design when I for any reason look up the shield pattern (don't quote me) coins, but I've never actually seen this £2. Is it really rare, am I just not seeing it, or did something else happen that I'm unaware of? Tell me the story.

Tips for photographing birds?

I'd really like to get some decent bird pictures. I've got a camera, I've got lenses, but I don't really have the birds. I've tried for what must be coming up on 2 years now to convince them to eat from my bird feeder and bird table, but they're really not interested. I think there's just a lot of cats here so the birds won't land anywhere within reach, or if they do it's on the fence and only for a little bit.

Is it just a question of sitting outside for a few hours and waiting, or is there anything else I can do?

Can they be in my pencil case during the exam?

Pencil sharpener for scale. I had the orange guy in the mocks and it was fine but considering these ones actually matter I may need extra emotional support.

Side question if they are allowed, would I be able to just hold one in my hand while I'm writing or would that be cheating somehow? English GCSE is scary

I hate how much dinosaur = child

I hate how much dinosaurs have come to be a kids thing. I'm an adult but I still like dinosaurs.

However, if I eat dinosaur pasta, I get called a child. Well this stuff is also healthier than regular pasta because it's got tomato juice and stuff in it. :/ same goes for dinosaur sandwich cutter but I haven't owned one in years.

If I want a dinosaur model, I'm limited to Schleich and Papo (both have terrible quality now), Jurassic World branded action figures (they don't need to move I just want to look at them) or shell out £40+ per model for the 'dinosaur models for grown ups' that actually have decent quality. Just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I'm financially irresponsible.

Yes, there's dinosaur videogames that are actually designed to provide some level of dinosaur realism (JWEvo series, which is really expensive and has too many dlcs because it's made by Frontier, or Path of Titans which is actually really fun)
