Percy Heath implying a V chord before the change

I was looking at a transcription of Percy Heath's walking line on "Bag's Groove" from the 1957 Miles Davis version. I noticed that many times he seems to imply a V chord before the change. For example, in bar 2, you can see him play C and E just before the F7, even though these notes point to a C or C7 more than a Bb7. Also at the end of bar 4, he plays an F# and A just before the Gm7 chord, implying a D (or D7).

He does something similar here, again before the Gm7:

He does things like that throughout the song. A neat harmonic twist, in my opinion.

"I Gotta Go" - I think I remember everything about this but the band

In the late 80s/early 90s, I saw a video on Much Music for this song "I Gotta Go." It was a trio of guitar/bass/drums and it seems to me that it was on Zulu Records. The genre was kind of garage rock. I think the video was in downtown Toronto and the middle section had the guitar, bass, and drums trading off. Any ideas?

Country (or country-ish) songs from artists that don't usually do country?

Two examples come to mind:

Led Zeppelin - "Hot Dog"
Metallica - "Mama Said"

What can you think of?

Which "savant sleuth" show do you think is the best? Which do you think is the worst?

I'm sure that most of us have seen the type: a genius detective whose brilliance is offset by (or perhaps caused by) their own collection of personal quirks and eccentricities. Examples include: Monk, High Potential, The Mentalist, Elsbeth, Ludwig, etc.

Which login screen was your favorite?

The vanilla screen wasn't actually my fave, but I can only post one image so I figured I'd start at the beginning. You can see them all here:

I think I liked MoP the best, very serene. I remember complaints about the WotLK one because of the noisy dragon touching down every minute or so.

Lesser known guitarists?

We all know about great pickers like Roy Clark, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, and Glen Campbell - are there any lesser-known great guitarists that you think everyone should know about? For me, it would be Jimmy Bryant (who very often teamed up with Speedy West).

BM keeps crashing at Death on the Mississippi

I'm playing Blood Money and for some reason, it keeps crashing at the Death on the Mississippi level. I will get the initial cutscene, then weapon selection, and then just CTD as it loads the splash screen with the image of Skip Muldoon.

I am using the Mulderland Enhancement Pack to get the game to run in widescreen - and I figured that might be the issue, but it still loads A New Life, Curtains Down, etc. I tried using compatibility mode to run HitmanBloodMoney.exe in administrator mode, as well as in Windows XP SP2 mode. I still get the CTD.

I'm using Windows 11 with a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and AMD Ryzen 7 7700. It's installed on an SSD with over 1TB free space. I'm out of ideas at this point. I'm tempted to do a separate install on GOG without the enhancement pack, but that would mean playing through the whole game just to test one level, so it'd pretty much just be a last resort. Any help would be appreciated!

Stealth games to play on a potato laptop

I'm going to be dogsitting at my sister's this week, which means I have to put up with my underpowered laptop. Unfortunately I don't have the specs with me right now but I know that the most intense thing it can play is Powerwash Simulator. Even the first Styx game was something of a slideshow when I tried it.

I've already played the older Thief and Splinter Cell games. Maybe Blood West would work? Any other ideas? Thanks!

Question for Canadians who have moved to the US

I may be moving to the Dallas area in the near future and am wondering about the best way to proceed for some things:

  1. I know the banks aren't as regulated as they are in Canada. Is it difficult to set up a checking or savings account without any prior US credit? Are there any recommended banks?
  2. Related to 1, I will still need to pay off my CIBC line of credit. Is there a reliable way to transfer money from a US bank account to a Canadian bank account?
  3. Any general recommendations for ISPs?
  4. We figure that we will sell/donate most of our stuff and ship what we have left to Texas, then take a plane to get ourselves there. Has anyone else done this? I suspect that if we just rented a moving van, we would be stuck at the border for a long time
  5. What kinds of things should I prioritize when I arrive? (Get a US drivers licence? Set up utilities? Stop spelling 'color' as 'colour'?)
