Bus vs train for Luxor eclipse

Flights and hotels are already outrageous, so I'm planning to fly in and out of Cairo and travel by ground to Luxor.

I've read the bus is less safe, but actually being able to use my ticket in 11 months is a bigger concern. Is the train more trustworthy in addition to being safer?

It's that time of year again... Your assessment going up doesn't make your taxes go up.

This video should help, but your taxes are probably going up for other reasons (still ramping up from the MMSD referenda)

I just received the following email from DHCS:

We have big news to share! Ridglan Farms has agreed to release 1,500 of their beagles to shelters and rescues.  The first 1,000 of the dogs will be released from Ridglan Farms to Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida starting tomorrow.

Together with Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project, Beagle Freedom Project (BFP), and partners from Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies, DCHS will be taking the lead on preparing the other 500 dogs to be dispersed to shelters and rescues mostly throughout the Midwest. We anticipate that this will happen between May 11^(th) and May 15^(th).

Each day, DCHS and BFP vehicles will load up dogs from Ridglan Farm and bring them back to DCHS's barn for intake.

We will be hiring 24-hour security and placing fences up around the barn for extra safety precautions. Only pre-approved staff (and possibly some volunteers-still to be determined) will be allowed in the barn during this time.

At this time, we anticipate around 50 dogs will stay with DCHS to find new homes. Special information for adopters has been prepped by BFP already, and we'll finalize special adoption protocols in the coming week as well.

We know this is a huge undertaking for our organization and will consume our resources for the weeks ahead, but we also know that together, we will rise to the challenge to help give these dogs a new chance at life.

This will be a big spike in our population. Our goal is to clear the shelter of adoptable animals prior to arrival of the beagles, so we're hoping our community comes forward to adopt the animals already in our care. We want to continue to honor our commitments to transfer partners and community members.

DCHS will also be launching a fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of helping these beagles. If you would like to donate, please go to: https://donor.giveshelter.org/page/Beagles

I am not asking for money with this post and can remove the link if anyone objects
