beats solo 3 vs sony ult wear?

i’ve had a pair of beats solo 3s for a few years, and i love them. however, they’re starting to wear down and i have the means to upgrade now.

SO, i did a ton of research, and i ended up landing on the sony ult wear. the most important thing to me was the quality for the price, and they just went on a great sale so i decided to finally do it. but now im having crazy second thoughts.

the sound profile on these headphones is vastly different. the quality is worlds better than the solo3s, and the depth is insane. they don’t FEEL as loud though, and for me that’s really important. and something about the sound is off. i don’t know what. i’ve been messing around with the equalizer for a few days, but i can’t find a setting that works well for everything i listen to. i can’t tell if it’s just something i need to fine tune and get used to, or if i just don’t like the results im getting.

i really like how these headphones feel. they’re cushy, and i prefer over the ear because it’s a lot more comfortable. they honestly feel like i’m not wearing anything, and i really like it. the noise cancelling is great too. but u heard there are issues with the quality of the hinges, and now im panicking. i want these to last like my beats did, which were used when i got them, and heavily used from me. i throw these in my bag with no case and ive never had problems. i was just wondering if, from experience, the longevity is actually that bad. if these will last me a good few years though with no issue, then im not worried at all.

so, are these reasons worth looking for something else, or is it just a learning curve? i was thinking of beats studio pro or song xm4 as other options, but they’re a lot more expensive which sucks. but if it will be worth it, like if these are actually that bad, then i’ll consider it. i have a bit over a week left to return them so im trying to decide if i should consider other options. thanks :)

best general eq setting for sony ult wear?

i just got a pair of these and i LOVE them, but i can’t tell if i just haven’t optimized my eq perfectly yet, or if i just have to get used to the depth of the sound. upgrading from beats solo 3 so the sound quality is COMPLETELY different lol.

so here’s some context. i listen to all different kinds of music. from like slow sad indie folk, to rock, alternative, emo, metal, etc etc. so i’m finding it so hard to optimize my eq to its fullest extent. i want a one size fits all, and i KNOW that’s going to be super difficult lmao. most advice i’ve seen already is to just change it based on what you’re listening to, but it’s so annoying to have to do that tbh, especially if i just shuffle my spotify. i don’t care about making each genre PERFECT, i just want an all around that sounds pretty good with any genre.

the pic i attached is the closest ive been able to get, but something is off. some music sounds kind of echoey? and weirdly distant. and some little background instrumental stuff is getting lost. is this just something i need to get used to, or is there any suggestions of something to change? thanks!! <3
