RLC-823S2 Timelapse not saving. Any fix that doesn't require formatting?

Hey everyone,

I’m having a recurring issue with my Reolink RLC-823S2 camera, and I’m hoping someone here has found a permanent workaround.

Twice in the last 6 months, the camera has completely stopped capturing and saving timelapses. When I check on it, the app says it is "generating a timelapse," but it never actually saves the file.

Here are the details:

Storage: I am using a 256GB SD card. As you can see in the attached device info screenshot, storage is definitely not the issue—only about 11.82GB out of 238.26GB is being used.

History: The first time this happened, Reolink support told me to format the SD card. While formatting did technically fix the problem, I lost all of my saved videos.

The Problem: It has now been exactly 3 months since that format, and the exact same bug is happening again.

I really don't want to get stuck in a loop of formatting my card every 90 days and wiping my data.

Has anyone else experienced this with the RLC-823S2 or similar models? Is there a known fix to jumpstart the timelapse feature again without doing a full format?

Device Info:

Model: RLC-823S2

Build No: build 25112712

Hardware Ver: IPC_NT2NA48MPSD12

Thanks in advance for any help!

For anyone missing the island or counting down the days until they land at STT ☀️

Good Morning Everyone,

Just dropping an update with our continuous live view overlooking Crown Bay and the harbor. We have one cruise ship coming into port today from ~8am-6pm.

Whether you're a local who just wants to check the harbor traffic, a cruise fan tracking the ships, or you're stuck at a desk on the mainland dreaming of your next trip, feel free to pull up a seat and watch the ships roll in with us.

Nuova Simonelli Appia Life 2 Compact - Boiler Fill Time-out / Flashing Lights

Good Morning Everyone,

I’m running a Nuova Simonelli Appia Life 2 Compact in our coffee trailer (open daily). We are currently experiencing a persistent boiler fill time-out issue, and because we are on a remote island in the Caribbean, we don't have access to factory-authorized technicians. Our local repairman is excellent with general espresso equipment, but he isn't certified on this specific model, so we are largely troubleshooting this ourselves.

The Issue:

After steaming large quantities of milk during our morning rush, the pump engages for 90 seconds, then stops and the lights on the machine flash. This happens progressively more often as the day goes on.

Usage/Environment:

Machine: Nuova Simonelli Appia Life 2 Compact.

Usage: High-intensity "burst" usage. We average ~175 transactions/day, but generate about 60% of revenue during a 3-hour morning rush (7am–10am). This is when the failure consistently triggers.

Environment:

Mobile trailer (permanent location) on shore power.

Water: We have notoriously poor local water quality, so we usually quadruple filter.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted:

Heating Element: Replaced the heating element at the end of February 2026.

Sensor Probe: Replaced the water level probe. Our tech used a multimeter to test the probe/circuit, and it is showing signal/connectivity.

Mainboard: Inspected and tested with a multimeter; it appears to be in pristine condition with no obvious faults.

Water Conductivity: Our tech suggested our water might be too clean (RO/Distilled equivalent). We removed all filters to test this, but the problem persists exactly the same.

Questions:

Given that we’ve ruled out the probe, board, and water purity, what should we be looking at next? Could this be a failing flowmeter, a stuck boiler fill solenoid, or perhaps a hidden scale blockage? Any insight on how to isolate the specific component causing the fill time-out—especially under high-volume demand—would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time and expertise!

Finally got the 24/7 St. Thomas Cruise Port & Airport live cam back online! [OC]

Hey everyone! After a few days of battling island wifi and camera settings, I finally got our live feed back up and running.

The view from our place in the hills overlooks the Crown Bay Cruise Port and Cyril E. King Airport (STT). I know a lot of people like to check the weather or watch their ships come into port, so I wanted to share the link again now that the stream is stable. Icon, Wonder, and Star of the Seas regularly dock at Crown Bay!

It’s been a labor of love getting this technical setup right, but I love being able to share a piece of the USVI with everyone who isn't here right now.
