Antibiotics leading to yeast infections: Another example of medicine not taking women into account

Hello everyone, I need to rant. Last week, I went to have two wisdom teeth removed and the doctor prescribed antibiotics and was really adamant in me completing the full box, so I don’t develop a bacterial infection.

I started taking them and 2 days later, yeast infection starts developing because antibiotics also eliminate good bacteria, including vaginal bacteria that prevent yeast from forming down there. This happens to me every time I have to take antibiotics and I just suffer for days, with extreme itching and gross, uncomfortable discharge.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m very pro-medicine and understand the need for antibiotics. But if women frequently develop yeast infections from antibiotics, maybe doctors should do something about it. For example, prescribing antifungal medicine every time they prescribe antibiotics, or just come up with a formula that includes antifungal in antibiotics (im not a medical researcher, but I’m sure a solution exists).

It’s so frustrating, cause I feel like this is yet another example of medicine being made for men and not taking women into account. I’m sure I’m not the only woman suffering from this and a solution must exist.

If I like Absurdist/Existentialist narratives or Social Dystopias with flawed characters, what would you recommend? Similar to "The Stranger", "Crime and Punishment", "Fahreinheit 451"

I just finished reading "The Stranger" by Albert Camus and it touched the exact genre I tend to like: books with flawed main characters that make you think about society as a whole. Others that fit this bill are "Crime and Punishment" and "Notes from the Underground" (Dostoyevski), "Fahrenheit 451" (Ray Bradbury), "The Trial" (Kafka) and of course the classic "1984" (Orwell).

Next on my list is Catch 22, which I believe will be similar. But I want other suggestions of books that will fit this vibe. As you can see, I mostly read books with 50+ years, but that is not a requirement at all, I would actually be very happy with more recent books. A specific lenght is also not a requirement, as Ive read War and Peace, Anna Karenina, The Century Triology and all the huge ones, but Im also very happy with smaller books.

I know this is kind of a specific genre, but am very grateful for any recommendations!

The volume on videos on my laptop (HP Laptop 15-fd) keeps adjusting back to 100% whenever I change it and its driving me insane

I have a HP Laptop 15-fd0xxx, which I bought just a couple of months ago (windows 11). Everything is fine but the volume is driving me insane. For weeks, the max volume was super low in every video (youtube, hbo, netflix...). Then, I changed a bunch of sound settings and somehow fixed that problem, which made me very happy.

But now, I have a new sound issue. This is the scenario: Im on youtube watching a video, i put the volume at 50%. The second I change to another video (or another tv show if its streaming), the volume adjusts back to 100%. This is very annoying cause Im not really into waking up my entire house.

Im not super technological (obviously), but if I go to the sound settings, I have my speakers (realtek 6.0.9873.1) on format 24 bit, 4800 HZ (studio quality). Then audio enhancements are deactivated, and so is spacial sound. "Mono audio" is also off.

Please someone help, thank you!!

I still can’t get over the fact that Cricket from Its Always Sunny wrote The Lost Boys

David Hornsby has played Cricket, a homeless man who goes through hell and back in Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, for 20 years now. He’s probably the funniest out of all recurring characters in the tv show, and has appeared in every season except s15.

And then, here comes 2026 and he writes The Lost Boys, the most Tony-nominated musical of the year. Great reviews, great book, an okay score (I’m not crazy about it but like it), great actors and just a really fun show overall.

And my brain just can’t get over the fact that Cricket wrote what might be the Best Musical of the season, it’s just an insane thought. If I’m not mistaken, it’s his Broadway debut, which is even crazier. I just need people to know this, cause I’m sure the Always Sunny x Broadway fandoms cross quite a bit (hopefully).

PS: My other fun fact is that he is Emily Deschanels husband, thus Zoe Deschanels BIL and thus in the family of a Property Brother?

About the fact that Willhem and Simon's whole s1 relationship takes place in one month and they manage to not only immediately fall in love but also get caught literally the first time they hook up (with major consequences for domestic and international politics), while Ilya and Shane have a 9 year situationship, spend like 8 of those years not in love, and only get caught 9 years later (and even then just by one person, not on camera, and with no consequences). I think after watching how careful Shane and Ilya were and how not careful the Young Royals' kids were, I was just screaming at the tv lmao, the difference is huge.

Also, I just find it so funny to see the age difference between the actors. Allegedly 2008 Ilya and Shane were the same age as Willhem and Simon and they look like their fathers. Im not complaining btw, they both work in the shows, but its just funny to notice.

Lastly, there are so many parallels, but the quality difference is insane. There really is no romance like Shane and Ilyas in tv (at least in a queer couple), maybe only with the exception of my loves Ian and Mickey. Theyre all fun shows though, not complaining the slightest bit, but yes, HR is just so great it makes me compare all shows I watch to it lol.

ETA: I said this in a comment but want to say it here. I’m very happy all these shows exist and they’re all great. They do have different target ages and I’m so happy teenagers nowadays have shows like Young Royals, where teens actually look like teens, which doesn’t really happen and I would have loved to see it when I was also a teenager.
