Needy Nurse

First things first, I am a very helpful CNA I swear.
I’m up doing vitals, restocking rooms, answering call lights etc all shift. I don’t just sit around. I have this nurse though, who has been asking me (specifically and only me, even when my trainer is there) to do things for him.
Things like “can you get room 8 water” or “can you put room 7’s bed down” all night. He even had me stop my prep to clean poop off my patient to take a parameter vital for a medication he needed to give (he was in the room!!)

I need some advice on how to respond to these requests, because it’s clear to me that I shouldn’t just be putting my head down and doing them. I don’t want to be too aggressive about it either.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: nurses at my hospital are not allowed to have anyone other than themselves or another nurse do parameter vitals, that’s one issue. Two is he’s targeting me specifically as a younger lady to do his random tasks (like lowering a bed? Bro that’s easy!)
It’s not that I don’t want to support my nurses. I absolutely do, there is an issue however with being an ass to your CNA & also ditching your own task on your assistants.

Burnout

When is the last time you truly weren’t burnt out? I’m in nursing school right now and expectedly with the accelerated pace I am absolutely burnt two years in. I haven’t been mentally flourishing or not burnt since at the earliest, the summer after senior year of high school (maybe not since summer before senior year, so 2022).

Knowing that I’m more neurodivergent than purely ADHD has helped me understand my overstimulation & burnout issues but I’m still not sure how we’re supposed to put the fire out & rebuild.

Mom issues

I’m 22f, I feel like I will never be an adult around my mom. She has anger issues, I know I do too but I just can’t take the brunt of hers anymore. Today I went to the vet with her to help because we have two dogs, one of which really likes to run away if given the chance.

On the way home my mom said she was going to stop by a coffee shop & I told her I needed her to drop me off at the house instead because I had plans. She agreed to drop me off & then asked my grandma to come with her instead. When she was on the phone, she told my grandma I would be staying home with the dogs. Obviously because I had plans I told her I couldn’t do that and then she accused me of lying about my plans only because I didn’t want to stay home with the dogs.

We pulled up to the house and I told her not to call me a liar just because she didn’t like my answer, because she was acting like a dick. She grabbed my face really hard in one hand and said she would only let go if I said I would never call her a “dick” again (I want to clarify here, we’ve used language like this in our house my whole life. This isn’t a super conservative family. She just changed her mind I guess). I said she was bruising me and to let go. She refused and kept her grip for a long time, telling me over and over that she would only let go when I apologized and agreed with her.

The thing I hate the most about this is that I don’t even know anymore if what I did made this reasonable. I just feel like nothing I do, anger no anger, tidy or messy, changes her response. I don’t even know what to do anymore.

My only other option is to be homeless in 90 degree heat, while I finish my nursing degree.

I just started my senior year of nursing school & I’m feeling very confused about what I’m supposed to be doing outside of school to prepare for a career.

I’m fortunate to live in an area that has a lot of hospital, and I’m only five hours out from Seattle (so Swedish, Seattle children’s, all sorts of big hospitals that have new grad programs) so it’s not as much of an issue of there not being programs near me. It’s an issue of not knowing what I’m supposed to do during my senior year & when to do it.

My senior year in high school felt so concrete:

Fix my GPA, write my essays, get my letters of recommendation, apply through common app and graduate. This is so much more complicated and confusing than that. Especially because my program has no guidance about this other than “graduate & take the NCLEX”
