The Mall on 8x10

They are demolishing the remaining JCPenney store this week.  In place of the mall, they are building 700+ apartments.

Just outside of Louisville. [Chamonix 8x10, Dagor 12", Portra 160]

Just outside of Louisville.  I spent one night here and took 3 photos.  I scouted these spots during the day and came back that evening and following morning.

Roshawn - 4x5 + 150 Xenotar + HP5

He grew up in this neighborhood but no longer lives here.  He came back home to change the tire for his mom, where I found him.  He was almost done and gave me all of about 30 seconds to get this photo and said he’s too busy to stay still but to go ahead and take it while he works.  I didn’t use a loop or a meter, just eyeballed focus and exposure and took it. I’d change a few things about it had I had more time, but that’s how it goes.

Marie, at home. 4x5 + Zeiss 135

Marie, at home.

She is one of the first African American authors in the town of Triune.  She coauthored a book “Coming Out of the Dark Into the Light” about what it was like growing up and going to school during segregation.

My Daughter's Preschool Graduation (on 8x10 like an fool)

100+ parents and teachers behind me while I composed and focused. To say that I rushed through it was an understatement. I remember thinking f*** it and closing the lens and loading the film.  😂

PS, reposting this with the graduation certificate information redacted.  To answer a previous comment though, yes parents were told it would be shared online.

Cone of Shame - Chamonix 4x5 + Zeiss 135 + Ilford HP5

A quick test shot to see how I like using Rodinal for FP4 and HP5. So far, I like it more than HC-110.

PS the dog is fine, just had an ulcer in his eye from being crazy outside.

Mykie.  He’s been cobbling shoes since he was 14 years old.

Critique: I wish I had him turn slightly more towards the camera.  It was a very small room and hard to work in.  So I used my 210 which doesn’t really cover 8x10 and accidentally had front rise and didn’t realize I ran out of image circle.   I’m looking for a better lens.  Other criticism is always welcome, it’s how I’ll improve.
