University of Utah Parking

I just accepted a position at the U of U hospital, the hiring process has been a breeze EXCEPT for trying to understand the parking permits.. I have some questions specific to my situation if anyone could help me out!!

- the position I accepted is overnight, what is the difference with parking vs day shift?
- which is the best parking permit with the closest location to the actual hospital?
- I live about 30 mins (with no traffic) away from the hospital. How much earlier do I need to leave to accommodate parking/walking to the hospital?

Ideally, I’d like to be as close to the hospital as possible without paying an arm and a leg. Im staying realistic here. Any tips/advice would help so much! Im definitely so lost

Does anyone have advice on quitting/demoting to PRN at a job you love?

I am an ultrasound tech. I am having the worst anxiety quitting/demoting to PRN at my job I’m currently at. I was offered an amazing pay increase + full time position I can not turn down. But with that, I have to quit my current position. I cant escape the feeling that they’re going to be so upset due to the “need of me” . We have a small team so unfortunately losing me/most of my time will result in a loss to them… Im known to have a big heart so I’m having such a hard time letting them know…

Which job position would you chose?

Which job would you prefer if you were me?

Part time. Smaller hospital (Level 3 trauma) 15-20 hours per week during the day, 2-3 nights of call per week. 20 minutes away. Okay benefits. Lower pay than job 2.

  1. Full time . Larger hospital (Level 1 trauma) 40 hours per week, weekend graveyard. 9 nights of call per year. 30 minutes away. Great benefits . Higher pay ( by $5-$10 per hour) sign on bonus.

-side notes

I have 2 years of experience in general, breasts, obgyn, vascular

I am a parent to 3 kids. One is under one.

Want to buy house/property in the next year.

Add on: job 2 would be friday, saturday, sunday 3 12’s graveyard. I would be available for my kids/school events but have no experience working every weekend (other then call) i would also be by myself at job 2 doing anywhere from 1-20 scans a night. Currently at job 1. Right now doing anywhere from 1-15 scans per day (split between a team)

Kidney stones in the medical field

I am an ultrasound tech that just got diagnosed with their first kidney stone on Monday. Severe pain brought me into the ER where a CT read “moderate amount of hydronephrosis (urine backed into kidney) seen with a 5mm stone stuck at UVJ (end part of ureter, beginning of bladder). I’ve been told that with the size and position of my stone I have a 50% chance of passing it on my own and it can take weeks.
The part thats concerning to me is today after work I scanned myself (Thursday night, almost 4 days after initial diagnosis) I STILL have moderate hydro up in my kidney. I’m overthinking this because this is textbook for obstruction. Im still having lingering pain as well (not severe, more tenderness and uncomfortableness while taking ibuprofen around the clock) I want to advocate for myself but at the same time I don’t want to be “that” patient that thinks she knows everything. It is hard being an ultrasound tech that knows/is confident on what they’re looking at… does anyone have answers/advice for me? Im driving myself crazy about this situation 😭i

San Diego Hotel Circle

Me and my family ( husband, 2 kids) are planning a San Diego trip. We currently have a booking for the following hotel.

Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Hotel Circle

We are wanting something inexpensive, mostly just somewhere to rest, get ready and go. Of course with me having 2 little ones I want it to be somewhat “cozy” and safe. Booking gave it a 8.0. Any thoughts or other recommendations around the same price point? (1.6k for 6 days)
