Any jazz jam sessions in los angeles between july 1st and 4th?

I’ll be visiting los angeles between july 1st and 4th and Im looking for a place to play with some local players and check out the scene. I was in town last year and the one I planned on attending was from out of date information so I was hoping to get some info from people in the area! If anyone would like to get together and play in a more informal setting send me a dm! I’m a guitarist with a focus on swing and bop era stuff.

anyone else not like forever howling after revisiting it?

i found out about bcnr back in 2021 when for the first time came out and i was blown away by what they were doing. i’m somewhat mixed on ants from up there but it has a lot of really amazing moments (ie. snowglobes).

i listened to forever howlong when it first came out and was very disappointed with the direction they’d gone. so i gave it some time and checked it out again recently only to feel the same way.
what i feel like made them special on their first records were their connections to influences like slint and that side of rock music while also pushing it towards somewhere more modern. but with this record it sounds like they’ve got an entirely new slew of influences all together, like it’s DNA has been replaced with something else. i don’t want to chalk it all up to isaac leaving because it’s clear the other members of the band had a very important part of their earlier sound.

is anyone else wondering what outside of isaac’s departure lead to them going down this path? was isaac a larger architect of their sound than he wanted to lead us to think?
