Please tell me that I can turn this off somewhere

It suck so bad. It adds absolutely nothing, covers parts of photos and blocks text. I’m not very good at navigating the settings on this app, is there somewhere I can turn it off?? It’s actively making it worse to use the app.

Interesting plant found in Grampians National Park, Australia

It was very small, maybe only an inch or two across.

Where can I see some horses?

So basically I like to go to parks and draw birds and trees and people and stuff, but lately I’ve really been feeling the itch to draw some horses. Are there any pastures/stables that are adjacent to public parks or trails around the east suburbs where I could go and see a horse? I take public transit, but I don’t mind a bit of a walk. Thanks in advance :)

Guess that stamp!

I bought this stamp and it wasn’t until I did my fourth seal with it before I finally deciphered what it was, haha. Can you guess what it is? Second slide should answer it.

New to the hobby, how often should I be cleaning/soaking my pen nibs? Fountain pen maintenance tips please!

Hi everyone! I am rather new to the fountain pen hobby. I picked up a kakuno pen two months ago and absolutely fell in love, tale as old as time. Afterwards I got myself a second one, and I'm afraid that now I won't be able to stop, haha. They are just so lovely to use, and I can't believe I didn't buy one sooner given my proclivity to impulse purchasing art supplies.

Anyways, I've mostly been using my pens for drawing but I've also been taking notes in my lectures with them. I've been working them pretty hard and they've been awesome. Image is attached as an example of the kind of art I've been using them for. However, I've noticed that both of them have been having issues with ink skipping and flow sometimes stopping entirely, and I haven't been able to work out why.

I've had the thought that perhaps small bits of pulp from the paper may be stopping the ink from properly flowing, but I'm not sure how to properly assess that. Upon close inspection the tines seem fine, and the pens haven't been dropped or anything of that sort. I'm definitely handling and using them properly, so I don't think there could be damage from anything like that.

I did some googling and saw that soaking the nib can help clear up issues, but I don't know if that will fix the issue or if it's just a band-aid solution. It feels like soaking the nib is something you wouldn't typically do super often, and it's only been about a month and a half since I got them. Also if I soak them, then I have to wait for them to dry before I can use them again, and that sounds like a nightmare!! lol

Anyways, any advice or insights on pen care tips would really be appreciated! I want to make sure I can keep using these guys for a long time. Thanks in advance!

A unique song from a neighbourhood gray butcherbird

A few months ago I was awake early and heard this guy’s song for the first time. It sounded entirely unlike the song from any other bird in my area, and since then I’ve been trying to actually get my eyes on him. Today was finally the day! I went outside with binoculars to find him but I didn’t even need to leave the backyard, he was just right there in the tree above me. His song always sounds exactly like this, complete with the hesitation and the off note near the end.

I’m curious, does anybody else have birds in their area with unique songs? It’s so cool to me that an individual bird might come up with its own song like that.
