I'm not a cap specialist, but let's assume you could get Laine for 2 mil - can the Stars make that work? Should they even try?

I installed Fedora 44 KDE Plasma on an older Nvidia/Intel gaming box last night and so far, so good.

Hardware

* 2070S/9700k/32GB RAM/250 and 500GB NVME

So far...

* Base install went well

* Nvidia drivers and Secure Boot went well

* Steam & Proton installed easily

I never thought it could be this easy. Tonight I'll figure out game serving and how I want to access the box (remote, physical).

I'm very new to all of this, so I'm just trying to keep it simple. I'm a Windows refugee running Bazzite on my gaming rig and that's gone better than expected over the last 6 months.

Issue - mic stutters and clips, bad echo

Pipewire is completely foreign to me, Linux exposes just about everything and I'm fairly overwhelmed.

I do have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd-gen laying about unused and when I put it on mic duties, everything behaves relatively normally. I haven't tested the mic heavily, but it doesn't do what the Mackie does.

I think something on a "pro audio" level is happening with the Mackie, but I have no clue how to go about unraveling this mess.

Update: I am stupid - Stereo Pan is important and I don't need to be using the Big Knob Audio Pro profile when the Analog Stereo profile will suffice.

A friend bought the following about 90 days ago

• MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk MAX WF
• AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT

I know he needs an AM4 compatible cooler (which shouldn't be hard to come by) and I know I would prefer an air cooler for his system (because I don't have to worry about it.)

What's a good choice? My first inclination is a Noctua U12 or D15.
