Should I take a sabbatical to travel internationally for the first time?

Long story short, I’ve(29F) faced immigration issues my whole life and haven’t left the US since I was about 5. All I’ve ever wanted to do was see the world but couldn’t and feel very behind on life at this age. I may get my green card soon and my lease ends in September. I have about $520k in investments and about $40k in checkings and savings. I’ve felt a bit burnt out in my career and tired of sitting on a chair everyday, typing on a computer. I’m single and have been thinking of spending 3-4 months traveling throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. I’m a bit worried that I might not get a job after but also confident that I can. Would you recommend doing this or just looking for a remote job with good PTO? I’m very conflicted

Haven’t been on vacation in a long time

I haven’t been on vacation in a long time since 2024 and it’s affecting my mental health. Combination of the supposed risk of traveling by plane even domestically and financial struggles.. it’s tough

Should I move from NYC to SF for a job opportunity?

I(29F) currently live in NYC. I recently passed the interviews for Google and got to team matching where I have location option in the Bay Area along with NYC. Initially I wanted to stay in NYC but matching with a team has been much more difficult in NYC. It’s still very possible but has been slower and most of the roles don’t align with my existing experience(which I’m fine with).

The other option is moving to the Bay Area and honestly, the only place I could see myself living there is SF. Currently I am single and childless so I have nothing keeping me in NYC. However, moving to another big city at almost 30 does not align with my life plans since I wanted my next big move to be where I settle down for a house. Making such a big move at this age for my career also scares me and I’m not sure if it’s right. I’m worried about making friends and dating(though I’ve heard dating can be good for women). My family who is based in the east coast has also not supported moving to the west coast. The only thing is to have the opportunity to work at Google HQ sounds amazing. I also love California and nature overall (but don’t like most of the Bay Area) and see myself potentially settling in San Diego in the future.

What do you think I should do? Should I wait it out and wait for more positions to come in NYC to avoid the big move or should I make a big move to SF? I’m feeling very conflicted and have went back and forth with my recruiter

Conflicted on job opportunity locations. Not sure how to move forward

I have an amazing dream job opportunity. I currently live in NYC and their headquarters are in California. I am in the team matching process and am feeling conflicted. A lot of the teams I want to be in are in California and there are less in NYC meaning I’m potentially going for a role that I’m less excited about and the team matching process is generally slow for my location in NYC. Now a hidden dream of mine has always been to settle down in California. I love nature, mountains, and oceans and feel like I would love it there. I currently have lived in NYC for a few years and have struggled to date as a woman. I feel like I’d have a much better time finding a partner in California.

All this to say, I could choose California for this job opportunity and work with really exciting teams or choose to stay here in NYC. Moving to California would be a huge life decision and I’m not sure how I feel about it right now. I also have external immigrant family pressure and have been highly discouraged from moving to the west coast and away from them. The family pressure is quite intense and they have mentioned that they basically would never see me again if I moved to California.

So at this point, I’m thinking of staying in NYC but am conflicted because I’m afraid if I give up the California opportunity, it might be a mistake. How do you think I should move forward?

Potentially great new job opportunity but not excited about the role

I have been in team matching at Google and one of the teams I’m supposed to talk to is an internal tooling team. Unfortunately in the specific location I’m targeting, there aren’t a lot of open roles in my specific platform that I’m experienced in. I’m also in a toxic work environment currently. Team matching right now is kind of like survival and it would be good to secure a team sooner rather than later. Should I just look for external opportunities to find a role I’m more excited about or go with this team at Google even if I’m not very excited about it?

Have been in team matching for 2 weeks now as L4 with 4/4 H

I’m just concerned I will be in this for months since I’m targeting only NYC

Any one go through it recently

I just want to know what to prepare for and if I should prepare for my TPS EAD to end immediately after the Supreme Court ruling or not

Google has been my dream job for a while and I unexpectedly went through and am in the team matching phase officially with all interviewers recommending hire.

My recruiter provided me details on the first team match opportunity and scheduled a call with the manager. It sounds okay to me but not as exciting as product focused teams. It’s an internal tool team and I was hoping to land with a product team like YouTube, Search, etc.

I am also targeting a non California location, so the opportunities are limited but there are still 9 other potential teams that my recruiter mentioned over a call but has not scheduled anything with yet.

Should I try to match with this opportunity and avoid the risk of losing the opportunity at Google? I am really wanting to leave my current job soon.
