Loved this little boardwalk

Seems like the mods of this sub needed more members so they asked me to join.
Coincidently the next day this happened

Snapped this pic a few years ago on a hike. I asked around a little but no one could explain how this happened.
Thought I’d try the great resources in this sub

If in fact this charred crevice is evidence of a lightning strike it’s amazing this tree is still thriving!

The size of the crevice is amazing and it reveals a charred surface inside with huge scratches

The size of the huge crevice makes it simply be amazing that this tree is still thriving. The inside appears to be charred and the huge scratch marks could be made by a bear??
