Anybody else notice a drop in libido since quitting porn?

Hi everybody, I just wanted to see if anybody here had the same experience as me. I’ve found that as I use pornography less and less (about 15 days free now), I find that I also have less of an urge to masturbate, or sexual stuff overall. Anybody else? Idk whether it’s a good thing or bad thing tbh 😅 neutral maybe?

Feel intimidated by sexual partner

Hi everybody. I’m an 18 year old male, and I’m using an alt account to post this since I don’t want my friends and family to see it. I don’t want them to know I am sexually active. My partner is a 21 year old woman. I like her a lot, but I can’t help but feel intimidated by her sexually. For one, I am tall and lanky, where she is definitely not. She is on the shorter and “curvier side” (I don’t know how else to put it respectfully). Two, she is way more experienced than me, and also older. She had 2 boyfriends before me and I think she probably slept with them. It doesn’t really bother me that she had sex with other people before me, but I can’t help but think sometimes “what if I’m not as good as them?” Plus, it feels like she already knows everything she wants, whereas after 2 months of being active with her, I still don’t really feel like I know what I’m doing. Anyways, if anybody has any advice on this, or helpful tips, it would be greatly appreciated :> basically I just want the intimidated feeling and the nervous feeling to go away.
Btw, since people might ask, I met her after I turned 18, so nothing fishy went on.

Do most Japanese people know that Japanese culture is popular abroad?

I am in a Chinese language school right now, and I have a Japanese classmate I sit next to sometimes. In class, sometimes our teacher will have us talk to the person sitting next to us for whatever funny cultural topic she has. For example, last week she asked what sound dogs make in our native languages (in english it’s woof woof, in Chinese it’s wang wang). My language school is very diverse so that isn’t surprising, plus they are good for practicing conversation. When I was talking to my Japanese classmate, she was surprised to hear that anime and Japanese food is actually quite popular abroad (mostly in the west). For example, popularity of one piece. Is it just her, or do most Japanese people not know how popular Japanese culture is? I am wondering if it’s just my classmate or if most Japanese people are like this.

Do you think coffee breaks the 5th precept?

Hi everybody. This conversation came up between me and my friend (also classmate) while we were ordering at a restaurant. He noticed that I only ordered things with no meat in it, and he asked why, and I said I was vegetarian. He asked why I was vegetarian and I said it was just because I am a Buddhist. During earlier classes with me, when the teacher asked, I also said I don’t take alcohol. So he also asked me why I don’t drink alcohol. I explained the 5 precepts to him, and then he asked me, if alcohol counts and intoxicant, why not coffee and stuff like that. I said intoxicants are whatever impairs thinking. And he said, “well, doesn’t coffee also affect your thinking?” I think it is actually a good point kind of, so I am wondering, why does or doesn’t it break the 5th precept.

I am making a project for my language school on how to make a dish. I am making chili. Does chili include beans or does it not? (I am trying to introduce American culture)

Hello guys, I am going to try and have to introduce to Taiwanese people what chili is, and make it for them too. However, I am vegetarian, so I can’t really add meat when I actually make it. Do you think my current draft is accurate?
Translation:
“Hello everybody, my name is (left out for privacy). Today I am introducing chili. There’s no Chinese name for chili, so I am just going to use the English name in this presentation. There are many kinds of chili, but the most famous kind is Texas chili, so in this presentation, I’m going to introduce how to make Texas chili. However, there is another even more specific kind of chili, called Cincinnati chili. My mom is from Cincinnati, so I also like eating Cincinnati chili, but usually it is eaten at restaurants and not at home. Cincinnati chili usually is served on spaghetti, has more cheese added, and the broth is thinner. Texas chili has thicker broth, and it’s saltier. The most traditional kind of Texas chili doesn’t include beans, but Cincinnati chili always has red kidney beans. Since I don’t eat meat, when I am introducing how to make the dish, I will use red kidney beans, but you can use meat if you like.”
As far as I understand, traditional Texas chili does not include beans, but is this respectful enough to Texan culture? I think I have explained clearly that traditionally, it does not include beans.

Is it possible to learn Shingon with just Chinese, or is Japanese also required?

Hi everybody. I am currently studying Chinese in Taiwan, and I would like to study esoteric Buddhism. However, I have more cultural contact with East Asia, so I think it would be easier for me to study and relate to Shingon compared to Tibetan Buddhism. My question is, is it possible to learn Shingon in Chinese, or is it required to learn Japanese? I understand Shingon originates in Japan, so it would probably be beneficial to learn Japanese anyway, but at this time in life I am already busy enough with one language. I would consider learning Japanese someday, especially since I am interested in parts of Japanese culture other than Shingon, but I don’t think I can learn 2 languages at the same time. So, do you think it is possible to learn about Shingon in Chinese without Japanese, or is Japanese required?

Do Chinese people still view calligraphy positively as a hobby?

Hi everybody, I am looking to get into Chinese calligraphy. I will probably attend calligraphy classes at my language school next semester. My main reasons for doing this are because I want to be able to copy out sutras. What do Han people generally think of calligraphy as a hobby? Historically, it was seen as a very important virtue, but is that still the case? I am just curious as to how people view it nowadays.

Is it natural for it to get confusing around here?

I am on episode 48 but I am having such a hard time understanding the anime now, maybe because I stopped watching for a while. There are so many confusing characters being added and backstories as well. Should I just persevere through, is it natural to feel a little lost around this part?

If you can read Chinese ig you will be able to read this…

I just felt like posting this here don’t really know why, but I am mainly using journaling to improve my language skills as well as get my feelings out for the day.

Genuinely cannot deal with having crushes anymore bruh

I hate it sm. Why do I have to pick the most random people to crush on? People I do not talk to very much… people I don’t know very well. I feel like it is purely based off looks at that point and probably not good for me, but I also can’t stop myself from crushing. I have a crush on a girl recently, but I keep trying to force myself to not crush on her. Nobody gets a partner purely based off crushing on someone. I think most people get to know someone they meet frequently, and then start to crush on them, and that is how they end up with their partner. It is not love at first sight or whatever. But somehow, I always just pick someone I find cute and keep crushing on them. Nothing comes from it, and it is a waste of my mental energy. I literally fall in love with the idea of someone. How ridiculous is that lol? Thanks for letting me rant guys, if you guys have any tips on how to stop getting crushes, plz lmk.
