For context, the powerful trio is made up of Seeker, Loader, and False Son. Generally agreed upon to be the three strongest survivors in the entire game, hence they are S tier. Is Drifter really capable of matching up to those behemoths? And if so, why?

When you first initiate combat with a Leviathan, they appear to target the one who aggros them first. However those who have recently hit a Leviathan hold higher priority, and will cause the Leviathan to aggro on them instead. Therefore if you manage to surround a Leviathan (which is quite easy, just have the squad walk through one and they'll split into halves), the none stop hits from every direction will cause aggro juggling, as the Leviathan turns between every member without actually ever making a hit. It's a pretty easy way to stay damageless from a Leviathan encounter. Assuming you have the squad size and attack speed to cause this interaction.

As of currently damaging animal's limbs is entirely useless, you might as well say you missed the attack. Since no matter how much damage they'll take it won't fall off or induce any meaningful penalty. The only way to take out an animal is just hoping the attacks will land on the head or stomach.
