What are your favorite Foodie Rom-Coms?

With the exception of when BAYM aired, I think I watched Tastefully Yours early in my kdrama discovery— one of my first five. I soon “discovered” Romantics Anonymous, a Jdrama starring Han Hyo Joo (Happiness). I loved all of these and would love to chew on some more. What are your favorites?

Please help me select my next historical cdrama. I’m having trouble landing the plane….

I need to add another powerhouse to my drama rotation in this category. I loved POJ, POB, LOTFG, Fated Hearts. (I’ve seen others but these were my faves). Here are the finalists:

How Dare You
Road to Splendor
Love Like the Galaxy
Blossom
Blossoms of Power

What do you think?

** I also have The Double and LBAFD on the list but abandoned them on the first go round—-have to be in the right frame of mind for the first episode to grab me.

How is the water always 30 feet deep?

Just a funny observation on how you never want to fall into a kdrama “lake” if you can’t swim ‘cause you’re going down…

All these Joseon Dynasty power struggles for the crown with the manipulative officials and the concubines (or siblings) trying to kill each other or their children while trying to make theirs a king/prince so they can be queen are wearing me out!

It seems every historical drama I watch has this as a strong undercurrent. Are there other tropes for this period? If this doesn’t build the case for monogamy, I don’t know what does! Haha. Which ones did you like? Which ones drove you nuts?

Pedaltrak gone again?

Anyone have any updates on Pedaltrak status? The build was removed from TestFlight from what I could see. I lost mine without warning late last week. No email response yet.

Only LOVE here from me for RECORD OF YOUTH after reading so many negative reviews…

I truly enjoyed this easy paced, slice of life drama that had me in tears the last couple of episodes. I check reviews to determine what I’m watching next from my list (once again after reviews to put them on my list.). I noticed with ROY many thought it was slow or had expectations that other storylines or characters should have been further developed. To me, it clearly wasn’t about those stories. At its core, it’s that period of life when how you were built influences or impacts where you are going. That period where your self-determination levels show up and your emotional maturity develops. At its core, it was one man, and three generations of a family that struggled along with the dynamics of one that didn’t and discovered that what they took for granted didn’t make the grass naturally greener. I’ve enjoyed Park Bo Gum before but I loved him in this. If you try not to set expectations with your dramas and let them take you where they want, you just might like it.

I will add that I find Viki reviewers much more giving so when something drops below 8 I have to side-eye. Ha ha. On MDL where reviews tend to be more balanced, 8+ tend to be consistently good choices. We should always seek out reviews at both ends of the spectrum though because this 7.8 for some was a 9.5 for me.

Appreciation post. (Hey. I’m late to the party). Namkoong Min

My first introduction to NamKoong Min was in Our Movie—just over a week ago. So when I saw him in a few episodes of Doctors, he looked familiar but I couldn’t place him (yes. Only a week later!) I looked him up on MDL and there I learned he was the “My Dearest” guy which I’m about to start. Now I’m more excited to watch more of his work. Totally impressed with him!

I am loving this drama right now. It activates the silly grins in me. Highly recommend. Well paced story and grown up love story. Have you seen it? (Viki)
