Not much talk from those currently in power about supporting/enabling new biz anymore…

My Nanna was from Rabat and was born around 1915. She sewed beautifully and made wonderful clothes and stylish coats for my mother and siblings. I’m wondering if any historians/anthropologists or anyone knows about whether girls undertook sewing lessons back in the era of the 1920’s or 30’s or how it is that she might have developed such a fine skill? I live in Australia and didn’t get to see her much and my mum didn’t know the history either….

Also are there dishes or desserts that are made in one village that you may not find as often in another? Are there many traditional food differences between Gozo and Malta?

I’m curious about the broader reasons — it’s mainly strict licensing laws, public safety concerns on what they are consuming, cultural attitudes toward regulation….

From what I’ve been reading unlicensed venues and under-the-table alcohol sales tend to get shut down pretty quickly. Enforcement is strong, communities themselves don’t tolerate it and so forth.

Seems to me these perpetrators are beating a dead dog…
