What could be wrong?

9 year old female cat, spayed, seemingly healthy. Indoors only and vaccinated.

Wednesday she was coughing/choking like she had a hairball. It did not stop and she was gulping for air. We took her to the vet and the C-rays showed no obstruction, clear lungs, and pockets of air, confirming she was choking. Her trachea was inflamed so they gave her a steroid shot and sent us home.

Since then we had not been able to keep in much water and refused to eat, even a Churu. She is not herself at all…. Lethargic, walking funny, meowing weird…. We took her to her regular vet. Labs showed slightly elevated WBC, high blood sugar, and high liver enzymes. Everything else is normal, no pancreatitis. Images were still clean. They gave her SubQ fluids, antibiotics, and appetite stimulant, and pain meds. She is still so sick.

Any ideas what to look for next?

503A pharmacies… when are they on the chopping block?

I was using a 503A in Idaho. My PCP of 12 years sent an RX with medical necessity for compounded. This pharmacy, while small, does FAR more scripts than 4 a month. I panicked and decided to go to LILLY DIRECT but the compounded with B6 and B12 in a custom dose works much better.

What is the time frame for 503A pharmacies to be shut down, do you think?

Straight to RAI. Am I crazy???

I was diagnosed a week ago, 12 days after the first symptoms. I see the ophthalmologist to check for TED tomorrow. If I don’t have TED, or have it mildly, I asking for RAI if my liver enzymes are still up on my next tests in the 29th of May. I have a history of severe liver issues adding to F around on methimazole for years.

2.5mg methimazole to start?

I was just formally diagnosed last week. It is only been a little over two weeks since my first symptom. Due to a history of liver injury, the endocrinologist started me on 2.5mg me once a day. I am also on propranolol 60 mg extended release once daily. Do you think the 2.5mg is enough to start seeing a difference? He’s it normally starts people at 15mg.

Newly diagnosed and elevated Liver Enzymes

Symptoms started 2 weeks ago (tachycardia and insomnia). Liver tests were normal 3 weeks ago. I start 2.5 methimazole tomorrow. I am already on propanol ER. I have been reading that elevated enzymes are fairly normal but I am looking for reassurance.
