Is Zepbound better than compound or gray ?

I have used compound Tirz and have purchased some gray.

I initially had success with the compounded Tirz but have had zero success since starting back using gray.

Today my Endocrinologist prescribed Zepbound and I am considering paying the $499 at least for a couple of months to see if there is any difference.

I have insurance, but it will not cover any weight loss meds.

My question to those of you who have used them, is Zepbound a superior product compared to compounded Tirz or the gray?

Thank you in advance 🙂

Inflammation coming back?

5’10” 184lbs SW, CW 169lbs started taking tirz in March 2026, currently on 5mg weekly, I’m very active, high intensity cardio 3x week, 2x weightlifting, eating 1500-1800cal per day., logging every meal. Completely plateaued and it feels like my inflammation is coming back. Food noise is at the perfect level so I don’t want to go up in dose. Anyone else that’s a slow responder notice this happening? Any tips?

Ravenous if I miss dose

Does anyone else experience insane insatiability if you miss a dose? I'm constantly starving and nothing makes me full. It's scary to think I can't ever come off of this.

How to determine dosage via a vial?

So I was recently prescribed zepbound to help with weight loss and obstructive sleep anpea, however I cannot afford it even with insurance and the discount card provided on the zepbound site, it's honestly absurd how much it still costs per month. However I have a friend who runs a clinic that is able to get tirz for much cheaper so I'm going to go that rounte, my only issue is how do I determine dosage? My provider was starting me at 2.5 mg per week and the vial I am getting is 8mg/2ml vial I believe, so what should I start at for a dosage? I already have syringes as I'm currently on TRT and I believe these should work for tirz as well which is nice. I also have the option of getting a few different vials that are larger which I think would be more cost effective but I just don't know what to look at in terms of how long a vial will last me and what I should be dosing at after that first month. My doc said she would start at 2.5mg per week for the first month and then likely bump me up to 5mg per week after if my body is okay with it, and then figure out where to go from there, so I will go that route once I can figure out how to actually determine the dosage from the vial, any help is much appreciated, thank you!

edit: I think I've got enough info now that I feel more comfortable, appreciate those who actually provided helpful information.

edit 2: The practitioner is actually going to give me a call today to walk me through all I need to know but I still appreciate all the actual advice!

Anticipatory Nausea

I’ve been on tirzepatide for a few months now and I have currently been experiencing debilitating anticipatory nausea. Thinking of the shot, of injecting myself, makes me want to gag - even writing this post makes me so nauseous. I can’t talk about it with people or I want to vomit. It’s become so bad I can’t inject anymore.

I never had a fear of shots so I know it’s not that. It’s truly just thinking about the compound itself has me frozen in nausea. I don’t know what to do and neither does my prescriber. I’ll take ANY help you have!!

Tirz

I'm torn, I want to lose weight but been working out consistently and can actually see my body composition changing, gaining some muscle definition but I know the downside will be gaining weight. I'm kidding ya'll, I feel great and I'm happy with the way things are going. Been on Tirz @ 3mg for almost 3 months now and I've lost about 39lbs.

How does GIP actually work?

I was on Sema for about a year then again for 6 months. I lost some weight but nothing you'd expect at my size. I know GLP1 essentially works as an appetite suppressant but what exactly does GIP do?

The closest I've come to understanding is it makes the beta cells produce more insulin but I'm not quite sure how producing more insulin is the solution if you're already insulin resistant.

I'm considering asking my doc if I can be put on mounjouro since it's available with a limited use exemption. I'm just looking for more science based details on it.

My doc is well versed but I often see residents who are just starting to learn themselves and the head is about a 2 month wait

What food noise actually is, and why semaglutide quiets it

posted earlier but the link was broken.

"Food noise" gets thrown around a lot here, but it's not just a TikTok term anymore. A 2023 paper defined it as the brain overreacting to food cues to the point where you can't stop thinking about food even when you're not hungry. The 4pm "what's in the pantry" loop on repeat is basically the textbook example.

The part I found most interesting: researchers split food reward into "wanting" (the chasing and obsessing) and "liking" (actually enjoying it when you eat). GLP-1s seem to turn down the wanting a lot more than the liking, which lines up with what a lot of people here describe, where food still tastes good but stops occupying mental space.

The less fun part: it's tied to the drug being in your system. Half life is about a week, and in the big trial where people stopped, they regained roughly two thirds of the weight within a year as appetite came back. Not a willpower thing, just the chemistry leaving. Worth knowing so it can be planned for.

I write about this stuff and put together a full writeup with the actual studies linked (the definition, the cravings trial, the brain mechanism, what happens when you stop). Sharing in case it's useful.

Not medical advice, just what the studies say. Heads up that the link is my own site.

2nd week no weight loss

Tomorrow is my third week on 2.5 dose. I know it’s very early on but just weighed myself, shot due tomorrow, and a 2lb weight gain not loss? First week I lost about 5lbs (I know some was water weight) so why the change this week? I did the same exact thing as last week. I track both my calories and protein closely and I am hitting at most 1500 a day for calories, which i struggle to get that high some days, and between 80-90g of protein a day. I track water and I hit 100oz a day minus one day where I only had 80oz. I’ve been consistent with going to the gym 3 days a week for weight training plus 1 day for a 1-2 mile walk on treadmill and a yoga class. Is this normal in beginning? Should i talk about bumping to a higher dose?

Edit: I’ve had no side effect so far, no constipation it has actually made me more regular. Also taking the shot not oral, which I’m getting through a local weight management clinic not online.

For those who get more energy from tirzepatide...

For those who get more energy from tirzepatide, what pharmacy do you use? I got really good energy and mood with bpi. When I switched to Casa I would fall asleep within a few hours of injection, feel drowsy all week, and depressed. I got some more bpi and feel fantastic again! I'm thinking its the high amount of b6 but I could be wrong.

Trying magnesium citrate for the first time...

My current dose is 10mg, but since going on 7.5, the constipation finally found me. Going on 4 days with no poops and bought myself some magnesium citrate to try. Lemon flavor from walmart. VERY strong flavor, but not bad. Was afraid it was going to be disgustingly salty like the colonoscopy prep stuff is.

Anyway... wish my B-hole luck everyone! lol

Has anyone else experienced this while taking tirzepatide?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I couldn’t find a post about it.

My friend and I have both experienced the exact same symptom, and it only happens while we’re on tirzepatide. We both stopped the medication for a few months, and the symptom completely disappeared. After restarting it this week, it came back for both of us.

The best way I can describe it is that a small patch of skin feels like it has a sunburn or road rash, even though the skin looks completely normal. There’s no redness, rash, swelling, or any visible skin changes.

Even clothing brushing against that area hurts. The painful area is usually small and can involve part of a finger, the back of my hand, my arm, leg, or back. It lasts for about 24 hours, then completely disappears. The next time it happens, it’s usually in a different location.
For context, we both take methylcobalamin (sublingual B12), omega-3, magnesium glycinate, and vitamin D3, so we don’t think it’s related to not taking supplements.

Has anyone else experienced something similar while taking tirzepatide or another GLP-1 medication?
-What helped make it better?
-Do you think this could be related to something similar to how metformin can reduce B12 absorption or something else?
-Did it start only after increasing your dose, or did it happen even at your starting dose?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s experienced this. It seems like a very unusual side effect, and I’m curious if we’re the only ones.

Edit: I honestly wasn’t expecting this many responses. The reason I made this post was because, out of everyone I personally know taking tirzepatide, only my roommate and I had experienced this. I didn’t know the terms allodynia or dysesthesia, so searching online mostly led me to information about diabetic neuropathy, metformin, and unrelated conditions. Thanks to everyone who commented, I finally had the right terms to search and found published case reports as well. Hopefully this thread helps other people experiencing the same thing. If anyone has found something that helps relieve it, or has any additional experience to share, I’d love to hear it.

Make it make sense!

I recently transitioned to Tirzepatide from the Wegovy Pill. I took my first shot yesterday. I did 2.5 in caution of being my first dose coming from the highest dose of Wegovy. I was told I could start at 5.0 or 7.5, but wanted to see how I would react (no side effects at all so far)

I woke up this morning and I was 4.8 pounds up from the previous day. I understand all about weight fluctuations, but this huge bump I can’t wrap my head around. I previously lost 19 lbs with Wegovy.Almost 5 lbs overnight? 25% of what I lost in 6 months over night? I ate no different yesterday (ate about 1240 calories) had a nice walk, drank sufficient water. The only difference was my first shot of Tirzepatide. What am I missing?

No motivation whatsoever

I started taking Tirzepatide 3 months ago and have lost 12kg, my current weight is 78kg and currently on 5mg. I’m absolutely happy with the results, I am back to my early 20s body and food is not a problem. But after 3 months I find myself completely indifferent about life. Nothing excites me, nothing makes me terribly sad, it’s like there’s a complete absence of feelings. Life feels “Blasé”. This has prevented me to invest time in new projects, to enjoy time with my partner and friends. Being alive is enough 🥴. Do you guys feel the same, what have you done so far to fight this?

Sick day 3/4 with tirzepetide

Im working with a NP, compounded microdose zero additives of .5, I have intense health anxiety along with endometriosis. First 2 days I had mild nausea, but the anxiety relief was amazing. I was initially annoyed thinking I started too low. Well that was wrong. Day 3 comes and by mid afternoon I begin feeling more nauseous, by midnight I’m vomiting. I don’t know if it’s because I had too many foods with liquids or what…. But I was shocked it took 3 days to hit me. Ive loved the anxiety support but idk if I could handle this again. Not sure what others have experienced?

1 yr and now having bad side effects

I’ve been on tirzepatide for a little over a year and haven’t had many side effects. I was on the maximum dose for about six months without any major issues.
A few months ago, I’m pretty sure I got food poisoning. After that, I stopped my medication for two weeks and then restarted at a few doses lower than I had been taking. Since then, I’ve continued to get sick several days a week, but there doesn’t seem to be any consistent pattern or timing.
My main symptoms are severe acid reflux, sulfur burps, and diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this after being on tirzepatide for so long, especially if they started suddenly after months of tolerating the medication well? Any advice on dosage?

My current dosage log:

4/6/26- 65 units above belly button/ right side

4/7- the day I got food poisoning

5/2/26- 34 units

5/10- 34 units

5/17- 40 units

5/24- 40 units

5/31- 40 units

6/9- 23 units

6/16- 23 units

6/23- 23 units

6/30- 23 units

Ate bad on the 4th and feel awful?

On 10 mg of Mounjaro and usually eat small amounts and low carb. At my friends house I ate trifle she made which had cool whip, vanilla jello pudding, sour cream, angel food cake and berries. Also had cookies with the blue and red coloring on it. (Had some left over also yesterday she gave us). Bad acid reflux at night and sulfur burbs and I take Nexium. I am assuming it’s the chemicals in the coloring of the cookies, cool whip and pudding?
