Role playing as a non-socialst state
Yes, i change the place names.
Yes, I dont build Lenin or red star statues.
Yes, I build churches.
What else am I missing?

I dont like the dynamic with the meter at the bottom rumning till the timerwolves leave. Feels like an arcade game.
Anybody else turn timberwolves off?
I've been reading the Expanse books and was a bit disappointed by the quality of writing in the first three. Now, I'm onto The Churn and am pleasantly surprised by how well it is written.
So questions: what happened? i.e. is it a different author to the first 3 novels?
Will it be this good and better from now on?
>!I felt that the parable of the blind man, the hermit and the priest, and a few other parts shared the same basic theme - applying morality or meaning to life is a human invention. God, who is weaving matter into and out of chaos with his hands, has little interest in right and wrong. Life simply happens, even those who try to predict the future may cause God to change and do the opposite.!<
>!Billy tries to live a life filled with good intentions. He is not allowed in the military literally because of having an abnormal heart. Many (all?) of the times he is well intentioned lead to disaster e.g. helping the Indian, helping the wolf, trying to get his brother to do the "right thing", wasting years trying to find his family's horses because of a sense of justice. All of these lead to tragic events.!<
>!Billy's suffering comes when he struggles to understand the morality of the tragic events. Rather than accepting them as incidents that are often the result of small actions. Multiple times characters try to warn him of this e.g. the girl reading his palm.!<
>!Finally, Billy stops trying to always be the warm hearted martyr trying to help and "do the right thing". He does this by throwing stones at the dog. A dog that is the most pitiful creature in the book so far. This is not an easy action for Billy as a person. It changes the very nature of the world.!<
Everything "weird" in work were things he either experienced, things he daydreamed of, things he dreamed of, and things he saw through meditation.
I think he was amused about people trying to find an explanation for the strangeness of life.
The plot was so clearly plagiarised i could predict how it would end. If Ellroy knew about the modern world he would have sued for plagiarism
How do we think it went?
Obviously we will abolish the senate but I fear white people will take some convincing to remove their privilege in voting rights.
I think we will need a strong militia and messaging to transition away from white supremacists notions of democratic republics towards one party rule. How quickly can we do it and shoild we discuss it publicly now?
The writing is kinda terrible. The word choice is not poetic, moving or thoughtful. The plot seems to be things happen, then this happens, then this happens.
I like the characters. Feels like a platoon in the Vietnam war. I enjoyed chapter 2 and the black leopard thing, but after that my mind is drifting now with pages of characters playing cards and pranks on each other. The wizards bore me, too.
What am I missing? Do i have to read through a bad book to get to a better second?
I started reading in the morning rather than just before i go to sleep. A game changer. Starts the day in the right mood and much better than my phone..
Hope it helps somebody
