Figured I’d take some beauty shots and really inspect the card as I transferred it from a one touch into a top loader. The eye appeal is insane to me— i never thought I’d own this card with it looking this clean!

For those curious about my top loader loyalty: I once dropped a card in a one touch while unpacking it, it bounced off a table and popped open, and I proceeded to crunch the card in half trying to catch it as it fell towards the ground. Luckily it was just a 1994 stadium club golden rainbow Frank Thomas, but it’s safe to say I’ve got some PTSD on the one touch front.

Regardless, this card is just beautiful!

Along my journey of collecting registration errors, specifically four eyed versions, I’ve come up with a few “grails” of cards that I know must exist in a trippy variation in some way just based on the year released (for example, a trippy 1972 Nolan Ryan or 1969 Reggie Jackson.) This card was one of the first I thought up and was determined to purchase, as 1972 is typically one of the most popular years for registration errors to occur, and Fisk is the big HOF rookie of that set— it just seemed fitting for my collecting purposes despite my Yankees loyalty. Shout out to my friend Coby (see back of card) for keeping this safe for me!

Don’t worry, I’ve rescued Mr Fisk and his blurry associates from their plexiglass prison… bought this bad boy off of eBay where the card pics were raw, and I take it the seller felt this was one of the safest ways to send it 🤷‍♂️ luckily it wasn’t screwed down too tight, but I can definitely see how these holders absolutely squish cards.

Fun fact: Mike Garman has 3 consecutive multi card “rookie cards”, starting in 1971 and rocking into 1973!

As some of yall may know, I’ve been on a pretty big dry streak of finding good misprints/registration errors lately… this time we’re back at it with an OG four eyed card! I had been eyeing this Kaat for a while, and finally pulled the trigger— I’m surprised no one nabbed it before me considering it had been on eBay for a few months before I purchased it.

I’ve been shopping this card for the better part of a year, and I finally found one for what I considered a steal :) I know this isn’t what I usually post but I for sure wanted to share this with y’all!

Although it has a slight crease, most visible in the third picture, I’m for sure stoked to have this bad boy in the collection! Presents extremely well in my opinion!

Super huge shoutout to u/the_coop_cards for letting me lock this down off of eBay! I was his first sale here on Reddit, and I just dropped a review! I know some of yall were interested in some of the vintage he had but he didnt have any references on here. Rolled the dice and it paid off!

This one definitely feels pretty big to me… 100% never thought I’d own a Mantle this old, especially one that has four eyed registration errors! As a Yankees fan, this for sure checked all the boxes for me. Technically my first Yogi too! Big thanks to everyone who tagged me once it got posted on Reddit!

Definitely interested in potentially buying some more cards that are absolutely spent… I absolutely love the character of this card!

As some of you know, I collect registration errors. I started this hunt with a few cards and have slowly found some of the larger cards out there (i.e. Nolan Ryan rookie, Thurman Munson rookie, a trippy Dock Ellis, a couple of Hank Aaron’s, and the list goes on)… Sometimes the best way to find one of these cards is to dream up the card you want a misprint of, or think there might be a misprint of based on the year, then start searching high and low for weeks.

This isn’t one of those cards, but it sure crossed my mind of “man only if I could get a 1980 Rickey Henderson rookie misprint, but I’ve only ever seen one that’s NFS”. I have “Rickey Henderson misprint” saved as an eBay search for shits and gigs, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought this card might show up.

For those unfamiliar, Rickey Henderson has a couple of minor league cards that predate his 1980 rookie! I’ve included a picture of a raw 1979 TCMA Rickey Henderson for those who have never seen it, but he also has an even rarer 1977 Chong card that is known as the Honus Wagner of minor league cards.

With the card being signed and a pre rookie that I feel has slightly better eye appeal than the 1980 Topps, I feel like I one upped my holy grail of my favorite player! I definitely wish the corners were in better shape, but beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve never seen this card with a registration error, and I sure don’t expect to see another any time soon. I sure think it’s neat to consider that Rickey laid eyes upon this majestic card before he passed, and I sure appreciate that he knew exactly where to sign!

It’s harder to take a picture of this than I imagined but man the 2007 red refractors are beautiful!

My 3 favorite pitchers of all time, in order :) never thought I’d own a card with an auto of all 3! Sure, it’s unlicensed, they’re napkin relics, they’re sticker autos, Nolan has a dot on the right side of his “R”, it’s got a meaningless numbered parallel, there’s plenty of reasons to hate this card. To me, this card represents the best 3 pitchers of the modern era in a pretty beautiful way.

Who would you swap out on this card and who for?

I’ve been asked by you guys a few times to take a family photo for these guys, but as you can tell it would be quite hard 🤣 tried to record this in the highest definition possible so I’m hoping it comes through alright on yalls end.

I took the time to rearrange by year and follow that chronologically… looks like I’m missing a few years but it’s a small time capsule from 1951-1990 of printing scrap starting with the 51 Bowman Whitey Ford and ending with the 1990 Rickey!

Maybe next time I’ll have to pick a longer song so I can spend more time on the cards 🤣 will happily provide close up pictures of any of the cards requested and answer any questions in the comments!
