I ordered some shorts two-ish weeks ago and they arrived last week. Last night I got a package from the same seller with a recent sale that I did not order. The seller seems to have mistakenly reused the shipping label from my order. They’re asking if they can send me the label and have me send it to the correct person. Since I don’t have an open order this is happening via comments so I don’t feel comfortable leaving my email or anything in a public comment. Is this really the best solution or is there something else that can be done?
I’m gonna be real I have no idea how to add photos to a text post on the Reddit app but 38 is my holy grail doll
These are currently my four favorite girls and since Nellie needs TLC being freshly home from the doll hospital, she got the spot closest to me
My dog wanted to welcome her home too lol
I was so nervous about sending Nellie to the doll hospital to have her vinyl replaced. My Nellie had the orange vinyl defect and it was jarring seeing her next to my other dolls, but I was worried when she returned home that she wouldn’t feel like mine anymore if she wasn’t orange, especially since she was the first doll I got as an adult collector. She’s back home today and she turned out so cute! I gasped when I saw her bow since that was one part of her meet outfit I never had.
I got her ears pierced years ago at the American Girl store and honestly ended up regretting it, but I’m so glad they included the pierced ears so she still feels like mine. Last photo is her before her skin bleaching for comparison!
I’m still in absolute shock…partially because my birthday isn’t until the end of August lol
But I almost bought myself this exact Blaire but couldn’t justify the price after I just recently got two different dolls. I sent the link to him basically just sad that she was so perfect but that I didn’t have the funds. Lo and behold, she was on my doorstep on Monday.
She came with a hand knit sweater (second picture) that matches her aesthetic so well it genuinely looks like it was a part of her collection. She has been top two of my ISO list for so long I never thought I’d get my hands on her. I was so in shock that I just kept repeating “oh my God” as I took her out of the box and genuinely have no idea how I’d ever make it up to this friend. She’s settling in nicely with the other girlies and has joined the “dolls holding sodas” trend that I’ve done with my Summer and 119 lol.
ETA: Something funky is happening on the Reddit app where Nicole L.'s placement is not showing up, but it is visible on the desktop website. Nicole ranks last out of the winners, with a call out order average of 4.36. Also, this was mostly born out of curiosity who our most dominant winners were. Not sure why so many feathers are getting ruffled.
I am very much not a math person: math has always been my weakest subject and I struggled with statistics when I took it in college. That said, I love data and the concept of statistics, so recently I turned my attention to crunching some Top Model numbers. I was curious who our most dominant winners were, how often people placed correctly, and how successful the winners were in the competition as a whole.
Using people's call out orders across the season, I examined the average call out order for every single contestant from cycle 1-16 (I have only seen 1-18, so did not include 19-24 to avoid spoilers, and also left out 17-18 since they were very gimmicky, so the call out order might be a little funky). The theory is that a contestant's average call out order should (roughly) correspond with their place in the competition, and for the most part, this is true.
First things first, some outliers:
Now, for some numbers.
Winners ranked by call out order average
Winners who mathematically won their cycle
Winners who mathematically came in second
Interesting notes
I will say it was a bit difficult to decide what to do with the numbers on non elimination weeks or double elimination weeks, which may have skewed the data ever so slightly. If anyone has any questions about other contestants, please let me know! Hopefully someone enjoyed this work that I did lol.
Summer looked at the display and said “f r e e t h e m”
Introducing Posie, who might be my favorite Truly Me/Just Like You doll
(Yes, our cat comes with us on our walks)
(Sorry about my dog…doing dog stuff in the background of the first photo)
I am very particular about dolls I add to my collection. I primarily want dolls that are NIB, and to date, only one of my dolls was not new when I got her. I found this Jess on eBay recently that was still new in box. I figured that’s a hard find for a doll produced for a year 20 years ago, so I splurged. I paid more for her than I think was actually fair, but it wasn’t extremely expensive, and like I said, I figured this was a rare find.
When she arrived, I immediately questioned how new she was since the only elastic holding her in was around her neck, and her hair wasn’t in braids anymore. As I unboxed her, it turns out this is because all of the other elastic disintegrated. The remnants of her hair ties were tangled in her hair, but I don’t mind that part since I think the wavy hair actually looks so much cuter than the braids. However, the elastic holding her feet and shoes in place is completely stuck to her feet, part of one of her hair ties has left a black mark on her left arm, another part of a hair tie has left a similar stain on her back (plus what is with that loose stitching on the body?), and her limbs are loose from being in the box all those years. As you can see, the same stained arm even has a misshapen joint on her body leaving a big gap where the shoulder is. One of her legs looks similar.
The seller didn’t disclose any of this in the photos or the description. I can forgive the shoes and the back since they wouldn’t be visible in the box, but as soon as I opened it, I could see the arm defects.
My question is twofold. First, what kind of feedback should I leave for the seller? Like I said, I don’t mind the hair, and the feet and loose limbs wouldn’t have been evident in box, but as soon as I took off the lid I saw the giant black mark on the arm. Plus, even though I don’t mind the hair, it is pretty notably not the hairstyle she had from the factory. Second, is this worth even attempting to fix myself? I’m not confident in my abilities to remove the stain, plus even if I tightened her limbs, she still has the misshapen joints. I don’t want this great find to turn into an expensive restoration, but I’m not sure what choice I have.
I guess the saving grace is that this Jess is beautiful. I have noticed her mold sometimes looks a little off, but as soon as I removed her from the box, I instantly thought she was so pretty even with the imperfections.
She was not a fan and gave it two bones out of five, but at least I got some cute pictures and videos
