I've been using Instagram since 2018 and have never had issues with account suspensions before. Recently, though, I've had multiple accounts banned, and I genuinely don't understand why.

A few months ago, I created an alt account mainly to talk with a close friend. After using it for a while, it suddenly got suspended. What was even more worrying was that Instagram also suspended my main account at the same time. Thankfully, I was able to recover my main account through an appeal, but the alt account remained banned.

After that, I waited several weeks before creating another alt account because I didn't want to trigger whatever caused the first suspension. This new account was extremely low activity: no profile picture, no followers, and I barely used it. Then a few days ago I followed only two people and shared a couple of stories to a private account with zero followers. Shortly afterward, the account was suspended again, and this time my appeal was rejected.

At this point I'm afraid to create any alt accounts at all. My biggest concern is protecting my main account because I'm an artist and I've built valuable connections with other artists there. I also have years' worth of saved inspiration, references, and creative content that I don't want to lose.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is Instagram's automated moderation system flagging new or secondary accounts more aggressively now? Are there any known ways to keep a legitimate alt account from getting flagged, and more importantly, how can I make sure my main account stays safe?

The strange thing is that in the past I probably broke Instagram's rules more often than I do now, yet I never received a suspension until recently. That's why this feels so confusing.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

There are only 3 active moderators left on our subreddit, while several moderators above us are marked inactive.

I was told to use the self-serve reorder tool, but I can't remove or reorder moderators above me. I was also directed to submit a request through r/redditrequest, which I've already done, but nothing has happened yet.

Is there anything else I should do, or do I just need to wait?
