Medical Accommodations- has anyone heard from the DAS?

I’ve been on an interim accommodation since submitting my initial Drs note 6 months ago.

My manager has been accommodating me with the recommendation in my Drs note to WfH a few days a week. I’m so grateful for that.

Manager said the DAS are swamped and isn’t sure when they will get the long form health questionnaire to take back to my Dr.

Has anyone heard back yet With this long questionnaire yet? How long did it take after you submitted your initial note?

And once the DAS received the questionnaire back from your Doctor, how long until you got a final decision on your accommodation?

Thank you.

DINKs - Do you use a house or condo cleaning service?

Is it normal for couples with no kids to hire a house cleaner?

We are DINKs. between commuting to work almost every day, coming home to make meals and do laundry and errands and fitting in gym work outs and seeing family/friends - cleaning gets so exhausting and my partner and I constantly fight over cleaning, especially since we have different standards. Such as I think bathrooms need to be cleaned every week and they think once a month is fine.

We are in a 3 bed, 2.5 bath semi with a finished basement.

We host friends and family for meals at least three times a month. We often host friends/family visiting us or Toronto from out of town at least 8-10 times a year for 2-5 nights at a time. I’m always deep cleaning before guests come over.

We cook most meals at home so the kitchen is always messy.

Would love to hear how other DINKs are doing it. Do you get a weekly cleaning or biweekly or monthly? Was it worth it?

Working at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) insights?

Does anyone know what the culture is like and flexibility with RTO/Hybrid schedules?

The salary is much higher than the jobs in the ministries for my field.

It’s also located in Oshawa which is much closer to my home, 20-25 min drive vs over an hour on the GO train.

Is it hard to get/what’s the application process and interviews like?

Retiring at Early Unreduced Date vs. at age 65?

Do most OPSers retire at age 65 or take the early unreduced date as soon as you’re eligible? What are you planning to do?

I’m in AMAPCEO. My early retirement date is age 57. I’ll have 31 years of service by then.

Is there any reason to delay it and work till age 65, if one can afford to retire early?

If I work till 65, I know both my CPP and workplace pension will be higher due to the extra years.

But am I leaving a lot more money on the table if I take the early unreduced date?

Places for dinner near FIFA Fan Fest?

Will be at Fan Fest today to watch Canada game. I think it’ll end by 5:30 pm.

Locking for a casual spot (will be dressed in Canada gear) but with good food for dinner. Open to all kinds of cuisine.

Ideally no more than 10-15 minutes walk from Fan Fest and also 10-15 min walk to Exhibition GO as we need to take the train home after.

I saw Stackt Market is close by, any good options there? Or how about Liberty Village?

Where are you buying quality bath towels now that the Bay is gone?

I’m at a loss of where to go for good quality affordable bath towels. It’s time for me to buy some new ones. I went to Home SenseDepot/Winners/Marshalls but not impressed- and I need at least 6 in the same colour/design for my family.

How is Costco? Any other places you recommend? The ones I had from the Bay lasted almost a decade.

Open to ordering online and in store.

Thanks.

Is there TTC parking at Yorkdale on weekends? Going to Bruno Mars show

The mall website says Yorkdale offers TTC commuter parking on Monday – Friday from 5:30am to 9:30am, in the East “E” parkade on levels P3, P4, and P5 for a fee of $7.

But nothing about weekend parking for TTC.

Is TTC parking not available at Yorkdale? I’m coming from out of town and looking for a TTC lot to park in with easily accessible and cheap food options for dinner before the show, and the mall has food court.

Sheppard West station parking Saturday May 30 for Bruno Mars - what time does it fill up by?

We are coming from out of town for the show. Was thinking of parking here, but just wondering what time the lot might fill up by on Saturday night before the concert?

Ticketmaster says they won’t send email confirmation for refunds. Is this normal?

My show was canceled yesterday in Toronto and rescheduled due to weather to another date that I can’t go to. It’s been confirmed as eligible for a refund.

Do you get an email confirmation from Ticketmaster of your refund?

The call centre agent told me I will not get email confirmation of refund and he won’t give me a reference number either - and he said the refund will be processed in 5-7 business days

Seems sketchy and I’ve read online that some people never get their refund.

Just wondering how I can protect myself if I need to start a bank credit card dispute.

Are verified res@le tickets on Ticketmaster safe?

They are cheaper than some standard tickets and in better seats right now for many Bruno Mars shows in Toronto. Just wondering if there’s a chance it could be a scam?

When you buy verified res@le, do you get the tickets instantly in the Ticketmaster App?

Toronto has 5 Shows - lots of tickets left - which night is the best one to go to?

Ticketmaster has lots of tickets left for all 5 shows.

Is opening night the best show? The opening and closing night shows are both on Saturdays so I’m leaning towards one of those. Price is not that much different for the seats I’m looking at.

Thinking to leave City of Toronto for 905 suburb with better schools - which areas are best?

We currently rent in a decent Toronto neighborhood. We picked this area initially due to proximity to schools, daycare and transit.

However with everything happening the last few years including Doug Ford targeting Toronto schools lately the quality has gone downhill. The school was always a mixed bag to start with in terms of several children with behaviour issues, overcrowding in classrooms and school needing repairs.

I’ve heard schools in Halton and York Region are often better with a community more focused on academics.

Is it worth it move out of the city to Oakville, Burlington , Markham etc for a better school environment for our kids? They are under the age of 7 so I’m not worried about them trying to make friends.

What areas of York Region and Halton are best for safe schools, and an engaged parent community? What about Durham or Peel Region?

Budget wise we could afford to buy up to 1.3 million but prefer to rent to try out a 905 area first. I work on a hybrid model, plus my partner runs their own business from home. So not too worried about commuting as I know there’s GO stations in the suburbs that I can access.

We don’t have family support in the GTA so a good school system is important to us for after care, daycare, and after school activities etc.

How much vacation time do you carry over each year?

I was talking to a colleague who carries over a full year’s worth of vacation every year for the last few years. So they carry over 25 days of vacation every year. In addition to taking their usual 5 weeks every year.

I usually carry over 3-5 days every year.

Just wondering how much is the norm in the OPS and why anyone would bank and carry over 25 days indefinitely for many years? What’s the benefit ?

Should I try to bank and carry over more days? I know we can carry over up to one years allowance every year.

Has anyone figured out which LSE trains that arrive at Union in the morning have doors that open on both sides now?

Specifically trains that arrive at Union between 8:20 AM to 9 AM?

Although the LSE morning departure times didn’t change from my station, it seems like the arrival platforms have changed. So now the two morning train times I usually take only open on one side.

I have a medical/health issue that makes it hard for me walk much or stand in crowds for long, so I’m hoping to find a train that opens on both sides so the platform isn’t as crowded.

Thank you.

This is my third time using IC this year. I’m in Scarborough in Toronto.

First 2 times was on a weekday and delivery was in less than 2 hours from when I placed the order.

Today is my first time using it on the weekend and it said 4-6 hours for delivery. Is it like this because it’s the weekend?? It’s for the same store I used the other 2 times.

I’m worried that by the time someone starts shopping my order, many of the items could be sold out or low quality ones left, such as meat and produce.

Are there more or less orders on the wknd? Are there more or less shoppers working?
