When talking about the American date format of MM/DD/YY(YY), it is often brought up that Americans usually say the month first (September eleventh, not eleventh of September). But I was wondering if we know which one was first, or whether they influenced one another.

For example people first used the date format and speech adjusted afterwards to read what the notation said.

When I was going to school, I learned or heard at some point that people joined the party to protect themselves against suspicion. Another reason was that some professions, like teachers, were required to join the party.

I'm currently looking through the files that were recently released by Katapult and Correctiv in cooperation with brownarchive.org for relatives. But I wonder how much of a deal a potential membership would be.

For anyone interested, I think I have found one of my grandfather's half-brothers but I'm not sure, as the birthplace doesn't make too much sense, but it could match.
