Csak FYI jelleggel osztanám meg, hogy továbbra is tökéletesen működik az esphome wifi modul csere / integráció a legújabb Gree klímákkal is (egész pontosan idei Gree Comfort Pro).

A jövőben, ha van/lesz/lenne rá igény terveznék konkrét plug&play modulokat is gyártani 😄 (Gyári csati lehúz, ezt bedug és örül kategória)

Mit tud / miért jobb, mint a gyári Gree Climate HA integráció, stb.:

• 100% lokális, open source. Tehát innentől kezdve nem vagy a Gree cloud/felhőhöz kötve. Erről lehet hitvallási vitákat indítani, én itsec-ben dolgozom, amíg van rá bárhogyan lehetőség mindent mindig meg fogok tenni, hogy tudjam az eszközeim mi fut, hova jár-kel ki a netre (ezzel sehova!), ki férhet hozzá, stb. Nincs baj a gyárival, megértem, hogy sokaknak tökéletes, nem hittéríteni akarok, de akit ez érdekel / erre van igénye - van megoldás!
• Én utoljára vagy 4 éve próbáltam a Gree appot. Alapvetően működött, de lassabb volt. Ha elment a net, áram, stb., akkor előfordult (nem naponta, de előfordult), hogy újra kellett regisztráljam a klímát, stb. Szóval kicsit "röcögős" tudott lenni, ami amúgy abszolut érthető. Mióta "saját" vezérlés fut rajt, soha nem történt ilyen és nagyon gyors, megbízható
• Itt nem egy plusz réteggel kommunikál a HA, a Gree clouddal vagy akár csak jobbik esetben lokálisan "beszélget", közvetlen az "ipari vezérlővel" történik a kommunikáció, tehát az az adat amit állít, az valóban úgy van. "Szinkronban van". Ha kiad egy parancsot - biztosan megtörténik, de erről a státusz válaszban visszajelzést is kap.
• Innentől nincs firmware frissítgetés (max Esphome - ha akarod), kizárt, hogy valaha megszünjön a Gree cloud, a Gree cég, bármi. Értem, amúgy sem valószínű egyik sem, van a Gree-nek jobb dolga is, mintsem János 12 éves klímáját levágja a felhőről, hogy újat vegyen, de na... HomeAssistantosok vagyunk, mindent sajátot akarunk és egy helyen, nem? 😄

Ezeket az indokokat lehetne tovább fejtegetni-cizellálni.

I'm not a professional but I'm a vivid hobbyist. I'll do anything from household works (230V) down to debugging / resoldering / working out stuff with 1.5V microelectronics, ESP32 projects all that. Because of the first, I guess I'd be best going with a CAT IV.

Currently I'm using a Fluke that my father (an actual [retired] electrical engineer lol) has had for at least like 25+ years. It quite obviously still works flawlessly and satisfies my needs I just thought I'd get my own "buy if for life" multi :)

Because of the aforementioned "bonding" with the brand and well, because it's one of the (if not "the") leading brands afaik, I'd remain with Fluke.

Price-wise I'm not sure.. I mean I want CAT IV to be absolutely safe. Not really a whole lot of extremely special requirements from me as a hobbyist. (I'm sure a cheapo whatever would satisfy me just fine, I just wanna be extra safe and like I said, I wanna go Fluke, if I can :) )

Just your daily reminder that you can (and probably should, before it cakes on due to heat) clean your OLED. Yes, including QD-oled. I have a 4th generation, which is admittedly more durable, but had the same experience with my previous 3rd gen.

I was sharpening my knives on my desk and SiC splashed on the screen. SiC is silicon carbide. It's a beast.. it's a powder used to level damn resin-bond diamond sharpening stones on a glass plate. If something is abrasive, that shit is! Without panic-wiping and smearing it all across the screen probably cutting it in half literally, I very gently sponged the splashes up with just paper towel. Then with a very wet and soft wet wite, very, very gently wiped around the splash zones. Next I took my screen cleaning soft microfiber and poured a shitload of 98% IPA (isopropyl-alcohol) on it. Took my time as cleaning was due anyways and cleaned the whole screen. Once dried, it was still looking smudgy so I took another, dry and soft microfiber and wiped it perfectly clean.

That's really it folks. You don't have to be super afraid. These things are by far more durable than most people make it out to be.. You just must not be dumb with cleaning it.

If there are any MSI representative around here.. Could you please be rational and remove software paywalls?

For example, let's take a look at MSI MAG 321UP X24 and MSI MPG 322UR X24. Both use the very same panels. MPG is more expensive, with better connectivity (DP2.1), more hardware functions ("AI stuff" & sensors, USB-C PD) and some more misc. All good! You pay for more - you get more, makes sense!

What doesn't make sense at all is the fact that you cannot set gamma, saturation and hue on the MAG and (according to reviews / screenshots, etc.) you can on MPG. Like wtf? This is basic panel functionality, not a premium. The aforementioned functions, sensors and additional hardware - that's a premium that you pay a premium for. You don't pay premium for basic panel functions..

Please, don't make the same mistake you've once already tried by not enabling firmware flash/upgrade for MAG series. Release these functions onto the MAG series as well!

Additionally, is there any chance you could either rework or simply add more profiles to both "night vision" and "image enhancement"? Both of those are kind of good and important functions but in both cases, even the absolute lowest/weakest value is way, way overkill! Steps, especially the lower ones, should be and must be way, much more subtle!

Connected via DP, loaded the .bin and pressed ISP. I get error code 0xd21 every time I try. My GPU is an AMD RX9070XT. I tried disconnecting all othe monitors too. What do I do? I'm already kinda in love with this monitor but if fw update cannot be solved I'll return it because oled care functions may change and I don't want to miss those..

TL;DR: current OLED is just not for long hours usage / work.

Prologoue: I've had my trusty Dell S2721DGFA for a good couple of years now and I thought I'd upgrade. Since I've been a long OLED believer (I've been using OLED on phones and TVs for the past 10 years really), I really wanted my monitor to be OLED as well. So I did all due diligence and researched. Since it's also my work monitor as well as my gaming monitor, I needed something that's a jack of all trades. QD-OLED is definitely an d objectively and clearly inferior due to the subpixel layout (triangle/triad) being even further away from classic RGB than W-OLED's RGBW is, and it lacks the "W" subpixel so it's not just fuzzier/funnier with text rendering but also much shorter lived if used for office work as well. And so W-OLED it is, all good, since both my Sony TVs use LG W-OLED anyway, that's the one I'm familiar and in love with anyways. I even went that far and researched and decided on the very latest W-OLED iteration, gen. 4 tandem w-oled.

OLED: I got the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG, as mentioned, gen4 tandem w-oled. It was spectacular but also waaaay too eye-candy oversaturated. It seems like manufacturers and peopel still think if you go OLED you must oversaturate the hell out of it instead of using it properly (like Apple or Sony does). It also had some graybanding but overall looking at others' result I got myself an A+ panel on the loterry, really nice and uniform. All was well, but the first day whenever I used it I felt drained. I thought I was tired or I had to get used to it. But this kept happening. I tried everything and mind you, I was using SDR and 50% brightness! Also the colors... it either looked washed away/out and worse than my trusty, old but very good IPS, or it looked way too oversaturated. There was not one point at which it looked just right. No matter what you changed or calibrated it was always a little bit this or that. DCI-P3 and a custom calibration looked pretty good I'd say, if not perfect, at least. But it still kept straining my eyes. I couldn't honestly see fuzzing around text going on, I don't think it was that. I believe it has more to do with the PWM vs constant backlight. Which obviously wouldn't be resolved by going up to 4k. And so after like a week I decided on returning it. The true blacks and admittedly (even better) color rendering is not worth killing my eyes. Please take not but take it with a grain of salt, this is my personal and unprofessional (not an MD) reasoning: I may or may not be PWM sensitive (I don't think so, I have lots of LEDs all around me and no problems. It's just when I used OLED for 8-10 hrs a day for work & gaming). Even if you're not sensitive, do you really think it does justice to your eyes vs. something that even sensitive ppl can use (IPS)?

Back to IPS: After returning I said FFFF it, I want the best for my eyes. 32", 4k, IPS it is! An insane bang for buck, Acer Predator XB323QK V4 (v4 is important!). Admittedly, I had to play around a bit with settings to get a calibration good enough to compare to the trueness of Dell's factory (much like I had to / tried with the OLED), but I managed to this time! Also IPS is clearly still evolving. Looking much better, greater color rendering, better contrast, just a great panel overall. All eye straining immediately gone. Nothing, zero, all good to go no matter how many hours at a time. Yes, obviously, black were better on the OLED. Colors were more popping (even when tuned down, properly). But overall this panel has pretty damn good black levels and amazing colors. This is obviously a subjective opinion but side by side it felt ~95% of the way there to be as good as the OLED, and more importantly, it felt way, way better for anything and everything other than games/movies.

My conclusion: I still love OLED. I would never touch anything else in a TV or a phone display. But as a monitor that you're working on 8hrs a day, please, consider not using OLED and if you ever encounter any eye strain, definitely immediately change displays! It's not worth it. If it doesn't bother you at all and you're only using it for 1-2 hrs of gaming at a time, go for it, it's beautiful, just not there yet / not worth it to be a jack of all trades. I really hope it will be some day. But not today.

Requirements: 32", 4k, at least 120Hz (but preferably 160Hz+ or even more), great colors and picture quality overall with great text render quality too. It'll be used for working from home as well as gaming. My candidates (feel free to offer something else):

• Acer Predator XB323QK V4 bmiiprx
• ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCG
• ASUS ROG Strix XG32UCWG

The Acer should be using the same panel as asus and is almost 50% cheaper with actually lots of features. I'm really eyeballing that right now. Keep in mind, it's the V4, not the old version!

The Asus IPS is just what it is. Pay quite a bit of money, get what you pay for, nothing surprising I guess.

The Asus OLED is an interesting ones. It's 3rd gen W-OLED. Currently I'm testing a 4th gen tandem W-OLED (Asus ROG Strix btw) and something just feels odd and feels like tiring my eyes more than my IPS. Might just be placebo, might be temporary, I'll never know. I reckon 4k helps with eliminating any text fuzziness, if there was any to begin with, but at the same time I'm also stepping back a generation to 3rd gen from 4th gen. And it costs literally more than 2x as much as the Acer, for example, and 50% more than the Asus IPS. And to be honest, this 4th gen tandem W-OLED Asus ROG Strix doesn't even really look or feel night-n-day better than my current Dell S2721DGF.

I think I'd be skipping in-between Asus IPS. I'll either go Acer Predator for insane value (hopefully), or I'll just try my luck with the 3rd gen W-OLED Asus. What do you think?

My current (and will be for some time) setup is a 9800X3D + 9070XT. Currently playing QHD with settings I like. Mostly native res., if I want absolute blast of FPS then I do 75% upscaling (from FHD) which still looks good.

I just got an Asus XG27AQWMG which is lovely but I'm still indecisive if I should return and get a Gigabyte FO32U2. I just know I couldn't drive it native 4K. Well I could, but I don't want ~60FPS, I need 120FPS+. So it'd definitely, always be upscaled anywhere from FHD/QHD to 4K.

So the question is, which do you think looks better, sharper, clearer, nicer overall?

Native QHD Asus XG27AQWMG vs upscaled (from FHD/QHD) 4K on Giga FO32U2? Which would you suggest? I can keep upgrading my PC every year/few year a bit, but will never go beyond current "budget" like a 5090. No fkn way.

Please, let's refrain from "no one knows", "as good as looking into a crystal ball telling the future" and that sort. I know that all ETFs are nothing but lots of stocks and stocks cannot be predicted for sure. I'm merely asking from a logical point of view since I'm a beginner and I'd like to attempt making an educated, rational decision now.

Okay so now that we're over with my disclaimer, I'd like to invest on a long-term (year[s]). In my country there's a special kind of long-term investment account where after 5 years I won't have to pay taxes for any profit so I'm thinking in terms of 5 years (will most likely reinvest/"renew" for another and another and so on).

I'm thinking 70% VWCE (FTSE) + 30% SXR8 (SP500). I know SXR8 is mostly a subset of VWCE for around ~50-60%. I'm doing lump sum. Does this sound like a rational portfolio to you? Again, not asking you to promise me I'll be doing this and that so damn good, I'm asking if I'm doing something irresponsible and stupid or if this is something some/most of you could agree on being an educated, rational decision. (Not /the/ good way, but is this /one of the/ good ways to go?)

Just a reminder that you might want to upgrade the bearings in your pivot (or try them out if you're using washers right now). I have no affiliation with the seller, in fact, I won't even link it. Search for "XM-18 bearing". These are night and day compared to crappy stop bearings and are way better than Skiffs too, sadly, since these actually come with a steel washer to protect the Ti frame(s). On top of that, there are more balls and are multi-row. Really smooth and solid action. I'm definitely a washer guy but I tried these out and I have to admit, I like them too much. Oh well.. at least I don't feel guilty running those balls against the Ti

I was kind of a fool and I got my small Sebenzas in single-stud version. Also, I have an old and really cool Inkosi that already has a 3rd party stud, single-sided. I'd like to get some for both a large Inkosi and a small Sebenza, so I can have them both dual-sided.

I probably wouldn't do it if it was dual, but single is easy enough to get out and I mean I might as well go for a little more comfy ones. That implies the question: do you know any cool, steel or titanium thumbstuds that are dual-sided, not shrink-fit (screw ons only!) and fit the look & feel of CRKs? Preferably something comfy :)
