Imagine being such a little cunt you make a mission out of destroying someone else’s property, and proceed to call someone you’ve never met or never even spoken to a “pedo” and “rapist.” Two words they don’t even know the definition of.

The shit you need to put with at half 9 at night when you’re sitting in your own fucking house!! Laughing when nothing is fucking funny. Ringing our bell, asking for the ball, and we give you it back with a simple request to keep it down.

Shouting abuse to my grandparents but fleeing the second I step out the fucking door. If you’re old enough to shout those words you’re fucking old enough to be taught what they meant and you don’t casually accuse a stranger of them.

Fuck the summer holidays and fuck horrible parents raising horrible brats.

I took a break from the fantasy genre in general for a couple months because it was breaking my heart. And because i had to take cigarette breaks and stare into the horizon.

Yet I picked up a few reads on my kindle and I’ve noticed a recurring theme. Authors really want to try a lyrical approach to narration but they always seem to fall short.

I cannot name lots of books off the top of my head bc they were just on KU and got returned when I didn’t enjoy the writing, but one that sticks out to me is When the Moon Hatched.

My dislike for the book has its reasons but I’m not here to berate it anymore than I already do.

SO many of them read like preteens who discovered a thesaurus, not a literate author. (Is that harsh?) why does your sentence literally mean nothing? It’s just syllables and letters and mush and literally nothing.

Good lyrical writing has rhythm, and paints a beautiful picture. It will evoke emotion from you and truly fits any fantasy setting when it’s done correctly. The problem is, it hardly ever is.

I love a beautiful book and clever storytelling. And the metaphors. LOOOOVE a metaphor.

I’m so bored of this, so i suppose this is both a rant and recommendation request. Do you have any books you could recommend? Help a girl out?

I’ve seen an uproar with parents, specifically, demanding literature be “cleaner” or “less graphic” for their children.

Apparently there aren’t enough YA books to go around so the adult ones need less adult themes.

It’s almost like every bleeding bookstore has a YA section with all different genres from romance to fantasy.

It isn’t wrong for adults to consume graphic books, whether that be horror related, romance related, or a gnarly and gory battle in the middle of a fantasy story.

If you aren’t in book spaces you probably don’t see half the posts I do, but I’m growing so weary of it all. These colourful novels of two people on the cover may be appealing to your children but that doesn’t mean it’s marketed for them. It catches my eye in bookstores too.

It’s YOUR job to monitor your children’s intake of fiction. You would ensure a movie is safe before letting them watch it, do you demand every film be clean too?

What’s so fun about blistering heat?? What’s fun about sitting around doing nothing because it’s too hot to fucking exist?? It’s never gonna get colder.

Living in a country that isn’t build for withstanding rising temperatures is making me want to sob. The sun beats into my bedroom almost the entire day and the heat lingers so sleeping is a nightmare. My fan isn’t even enough, neither is the 2nd one I bought.

It’s June. Not even July. No where near August. Autumn isn’t even in the distance. Been stung by 3 different wasps, moths have made my house their fucking home.

I get home from work and hope to get things done in my garden, bedroom or elsewhere in the house but i can’t. because not only am I exhausted but the heat is far too severe.

Yes I know I probably have it better than most. Like those poor people in India right now, and i’m not negating that. But christ almighty it’s actually making me sick. It’s too hot to exist.

This is obviously an opinion but i think it comes down to the writing, language, narration & story. Oh, the romance too.

Re-reading MAF as we speak and the first thing that truly gets me irate is the dialogue. ACOTAR’s speech is — dare I say — poetic in a way. It had substance.

Spring court felt like a fairy tale. Velaris is a college art district with bat boys that happen to read and speak like frat boys. Then the whole dynamic between mor, az and cass is just so odd.

And controversially, I really couldn’t dig the romance between Rhys & Feyre because how poorly Tamlin was framed. As I’ve seen HUNDREDS of people say; it would’ve been better romantic payoff if Feyre chose Rhys. And yes, she chose him kinda, but it feels like SJM chickened out a little so she assassinated Tamlin’s character to make Rhysand seem the heroic man he definitely is not.

I’m not even anti feysand, I’m just a girl who wanted a compelling romance and ended up with a character being hated because the text told people to. It still baffles me that people don’t see the way this series contradicts its self time & time again.

I’m cat sitting as the title says, super excited. I’ve been around cats before and never had much of an issue. It’s been brief, and sometimes my hands have tingled but I’ve never thought much of it.

I played with all 4 cats, cuddling, burying my face in their fur, the works. One of the cats was laying on my legs and the other got jealous and started rubbing up on my face. A little while later? Hives, watery eyes, runny nose and itchy galore.

This is the worst news ever. There got my dream of owning cats with my several dogs.

Took a mild allergy tablet and now I’m better. No bad symptoms or anything concerning. I’m camped out in the bedroom because they’re not allowed in here.

That’s my rant. A rant about how sad I am that if I get cats I’ll need allergy meds or get one of those hairy ballsack lookin ones.

Are there hypoallergenic ones? I’ll have to look that up.

I’m a full blooded Celt hailing in from Scotland who touches down in Donegal for a season a year.

I currently live perhaps 40 minutes from Edinburgh in Scotland, and I can appreciate its beauty and argue it’s one of the most beautiful historical cities in Europe, but good god nothing is like home.

I remember first reading ACOTAR and falling in love with the spring court, for the first time in ages I saw home in a story. Character opinions and biases aside, i genuinely read that first book entirely for the spring court. Yes, it may rain in both countries non-stop but that short transformation from spring to summer is the most breathtaking thing you can experience. And it’s how i imagined Tamlin’s land.

It felt whimsical and fun, and there was Tamlin in his prime with the sexiest redhead ever that I fell in love with.

Then Velaris came, everyone fell in love with that city and the romance but I literally couldn’t enjoy ACOMAF to its fullest potential because I missed my whimsy faerie land 💔 even re-reading it now I’m so not ready to move on again.

The series itself hasn’t left its mark on me — I enjoy it — but the spring court always stuck with me.

Whatever happens in the upcoming books, I hope the lands of spring come back again.

Velaris feels like a shitty college district. Who wanna come home with me???

I can lean darker if written well but definitely don’t prefer it per se.

My sweet spot is 450-500 pages and I appreciate the art of a trilogy, it will take a lot for me to commit to a long series.

I won’t grudge YA but I prefer spice. HEA’s or tragic endings are both welcome.

Dear Driver, if you’re reading this mate, WHAT THE FUCK??? Yes I called them, yes they’ve rescheduled delivery for tomorrow but I am NOT holding my breath. This will be the 4th fucking time.
