Yeah, I’m willing to bet my whole soul that Lobo will end up being a guest character in a Mortal Kombat game one day

Just saw Supergirl. I thought it was solid, but it definitely had its problems; seeing Jason Momoa finally get to portray Lobo was not one of them. He was chaotic in all the good ways, and i think the character’s popularity will only continue to rise. He’d fit in a MK game 100%, and in terms of legality, he’d be easy to include for obvious reasons.

Some other great side characters who helped make Defenders Saga feel so alive. The future’s bright for the MCU street-level corner and I hope some can at least be referenced or retun in acknowledgement for helping build such a rich world

This is obviously not everyone, but I thought I’d make this post to call attention to some of the great side characters in the defenders saga, who have not yet gotten the chance to return since the resurgence of this corner and it’s main heroes (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, etc.

Some obviously have a higher chance in returning than others. Micro might have no chance at all, considering that Ebon Moss-Bacharach is currently “Thing’n” it out. I would still be happy if they can find a way to give a proper nod to these characters, one’s who probably don’t fit much into the current MCU street-level narrative, but their inclusion in the original shows really helped the world feel multi-layered, complex, and real. They helped challenge our protagonists, and as we see characters like Luke and Jessica return, it’s hard not to think about their journeys leading to that moment, and the characters involved along the way.

Middle Row (left to right): Misty Knight, Ward Meachum, David Lieberman (Micro)

Even though I wanted adult Spider-Man stories, I think I’ll really miss the simpler, more lighthearted moments from Peter’s high school years. I’ll especially miss the goofy teachers & low-budget news casts

This kind of reflects real life. You don't always realize how special those high school years were until you've graduated and they're a long ways behind you. The fun teachers, the school dances, the high school crushes, when life felt a little simpler, even if we didn't appreciate it at the time.

Jon Watts captured that fun, lighthearted 1980s John Hughes vibe perfectly. There was such a charm to everything: the low budget news casts, the crappy green screen and graphics, as well as the incredibly weird teachers and them struggling to guide the students amidst all of the chaos that’s taking place in the MCU.

As we move into the darker, more emotionally heavy adult Peter Parker stories, I've realized that even though I thought I wanted an adult Spider-Man, I'll always look back on the Home trilogy with a lot of fondness and nostalgia. These will definitely be my comfort watch. Sometimes you don't realize what you'll miss until it's gone.

I hope the MCU doesn’t forget that Wanda killed 838’s Illuminati, including leaders of the Fantastic Four, Inhumans, and X-Men. It’d be weird to think that the remaining heroes wouldn’t seek revenge. There’s some potential to explore there

It might be difficult to address this in Doomsday and Secret Wars since incursions and Doctor Doom will likely be the main focus. I also don't know how much the multiverse will be explored once the Multiverse Saga ends, but this feels like too significant of a moment to simply forget or never revisit again.

The surviving heroes of Earth-838 would have every reason to want to hold the Scarlet Witch or even Doctor Strange accountable for what happened after they arrived to their universe. Despite being “5 minute” cameos, it’s hard not to think how severe those casualties would be from the perspective of the people living in that earth.

I could see this becoming the foundation for something like an Avengers vs. X-Men or House of M inspired conflict. Earth-838 wouldn't really need to be the primary threat/antagonist for the MCU heroes, but their arrival could be the catalyst that brings up this unresolved conflict.

I don't need to see the aftermath explored immediately. I just hope Marvel Studios doesn't forget about it completely and keeps it in its back pocket until the right story comes along to fully capitalize on it.

Andrew’s Spidey, self-doubting, having lost his soulmate & missing big milestones (fighting aliens, organic webs) felt like it reflected how he was under looked & never got a proper chance. I’d love to see him return before the saga ends

I’d love to see him finally get to fight an alien and being incredibly happy at getting to do so. I don’t know if it’s ever possible but maybe a brief look into his everyday life now and how he overcame his grief to become a better version of himself would be awesome… like a definitive, happy conclusion for his character.

Daniel Brühl finally returns as Baron Zemo.. but it’s a German promotional ad for Marvel’s collab with Magic: The Gathering

Quite a random piece of media to see him return in, but still very cool to see him being active with the character and with Marvel.

Hopefully it’s a sign that he’s ready and willing whenever the movies need him.

The journey to getting a simple, classic-inspired suit was pretty wild and interesting. We got to see such a unique mix of Spider-Man suits along the way. Which MCU Spider-Man suit is the best, in your opinion?

There’s a suit for everyone. Depending on your preference, you might like the unique twists on the traditional Spider-Man look with some MCU upgrades, or maybe you like the original MCU suit designs that were unique to the movies. Now it seems like a third option has opened up, where we're settling into something a lot more simpler, less tech heavy, and a lot closer to the classic comic suit.

I can definitely see the appeal and charm of both the high-tech suits and the more simplified, homemade ones. I also think the journey to get here felt earned and made the payoff even more satisfying. I would've never expected that a single live-action Spider-Man portrayal would have such a vast collection of distinct looks. I’m curious to hear everyone’s opinion on their favourite suit now that we’ve had so many.

I always liked how unique each of the Asgardian headpiece and helmet designs were.. Felt really regal and majestic. I kind of wish Thor got to wear his classic winged helmet more.

I also kind of miss the divine, cosmic feel of old Asgard as a whole. The helmets and costume designs really sold the notion of them being gods. They felt deeply rooted in old tradition and Norse mythology while also looking modern, timeless and otherworldly. They gave the characters a sense of ancient power and grandeur.

I do remember hearing that the helmet from the first Thor film was uncomfortable for Hemsworth, but I hope by now, with how much the costume designing process has evolved over the years, they’d be able to figure out a way to give Thor a comic accurate helmet as a main part of his look. Loki has worn some version of his iconic horns in almost every appearance, and I'd love to see Thor's classic winged helmet get the same treatment.

To think, he was just a troubled, ordinary man who lost everything. Now he’s teaming with Spider-Man and might have to face the HULK. Crazy evolution Frank Castle has had.

I've been really excited seeing how the Netflix era Defenders characters like Daredevil and the Punisher have risen to prominence and evolved so much since their debuts over 10 years ago.

Seeing how they started off in a deep deep corner of the MCU that felt very standalone and was grounded in realism, violence, and now watching them interact with prominent figures and superheroes in the main MCU timeline is pretty satisfying.

Frank especially, as he was just a man who served in the Marines, who got caught up in some sketchy operations, but could’ve lived a normal life after discharge, but ultimately became a man whose life fell apart after losing his family. That tragedy sent him down a spiral and eventually a path of vengeance. Most of the public see him as nothing more than a murderous psychopath, yet that same life has made him such a prominent figure that heroes like Spider-Man know who he is and will eventually be forced to ally with him to face greater threats.

It’s cool to think that Doomsday will feature 3 characters who’ve carried the Captain America mantle, plus other Cap counterparts.. Feels like a testament to Steve’s legacy & how it helped inspire a new world of heroes (Edit by me, NO AI)

Already thinking about how epic a potential team-up would be with the 616 universe’s main super soldiers… The current Captain America, the OG Captain America, another former Cap, and two Captain America counterparts (Hydra-Bucky, Soviet Union-Alexei) all fighting side-by-side in Doomsday. Would be a great way to show how the legacy of Captain America has grown and evolved since Steve’s first movie, and the effect his existence has had on the world.

Throughout the two sagas, we’ve seen a deep roster of complex characters who have either strived or struggled to follow in Steve Roger’s footsteps, but ultimately found their own way to honour his legacy. I’d love to see Steve’s reaction to a new world of heroes he helped build.

Though, my ideal scenario would also include Isaiah Bradley as well, who was essentially a forgotten Captain America. I think if his role in Brave New World wasn’t reworked (set photos showed that he originally wore a battle suit and would potentially been apart of action sequences in the later half of the film), then there could’ve been somewhat of a chance. I’d still like to see him back though. I really want him to interact with Steve.

If MCU Spidey ever gets the symbiote suit, it'd be interesting to use it as a way to dip his toes into the darker, more violent corners of the Defenders' playground. Not sure if Sony would ever allow it. (Visual edit by me. NO AI used)

I feel like it’s unlikely, but if Spider-Man ever crosses over into a potential Daredevil or Defenders/Marvel Knights film then I would really hope the movie itself would retain its grounded and violent nature. It would be their playground, and for the last decade (and with Born Again) they’ve made sure to emphasize that the maturity and grim nature is a big part of it. I feel that you would kind of need to respect that. It also works the other way around (as evident with Punisher crossing over in a more light hearted Brand New Day).

I understand potential concerns that Spider-Man in that environment could feel too jarring or that his mass appeal and family friendly image could be comprised by appearing in something that is close to being R-rated. That's why I think the symbiote suit could be the perfect workaround to experiment with. Since the suit represents Peter's temptation of power, along with him dealing with his inner darkness and suppressed rage, placing him in a Defenders style story while he's wearing it could make for a more natural entry point. The symbiote already naturally brings a darker, more aggressive side out of him, so watching Peter struggle with that temptation in a grounded, street-level world would be compelling (No killing though.)

Then, once Peter has overcome the symbiote, I’d like to see how the classic red-and-blue Spider-Man would continue crossing into that corner of the MCU. Watching him adapt to that environment while still bringing some optimism would be exciting, and he'd bring some much needed levity, so everything is not overly depressing.

Though, it’s Sony’s call, and the inevitable answer would probably be no.

Reading too deep, but do you think they’ll eventually change the stone statue of Daredevil in the opening intro? Maybe add the “DD” emblem? I just hope that new suits in the future won’t just be variations of the Born Again S1 base design

I know I’m reading too deeply into the intro and that it’s a bit inconsequential, but I’ve had the occasional thought of if the Born Again s1 suit depicted on the stone statue will change at all to reflect future changes in his suit. I wonder about this, because most opening sequences in shows like this rarely change.

I expected the opening in season 2 to have the “DD” emblem on the statue but they never did. The black suit is a repainted version of the S1 suit so it’s understandable why the statue wouldn’t change.

u/maverickassembled — 12 days ago

A bit inconsequential, but I wonder if Frank will have a nickname for Spider-Man, like how he calls Daredevil “Red.” I kinda hope it will be “Web-Head.”

I don’t think they’ve ever directly referred to Spider-man as “Web-head” in any of the MCU movies yet? Having Punisher (a man who likes to call people anything but their actual names) in Brand New Day might be a good way to introduce that as one of Spidey’s monikers.

Bruce finally found someone who shares his dorky sense of humor 🥺 I’m liking this science duo so far, and interested to see how their connection in genetic mutation & biological anomalies creates a different dynamic from Tony & Peter.

u/maverickassembled — 16 days ago

This was such a great line, and it makes total sense. It's one of the few moments where I wish they hadn't immediately followed it up with a joke.

It was cool to see Peter have one over Tony. His response just instantly makes you think, "Damn, he's got you there."

What would you consider to be Daredevil/Matt Murdock’s most impressive achievement in the MCU and in the 10+ years we’ve seen him?

Daredevil has graced on our screens for over a decade now, and throughout that time we’ve seen Matt Murdock do some pretty cool things— as a small time public defender to a respected lawyer, and as a local vigilante protecting Hell's Kitchen to becoming a symbol for an entire city and leading a resistance in a fight against government corruption.

With all of that in mind, what would you consider to be Matt's greatest accomplishment or most admirable achievement?

Some examples that come to mind:

• Revealing his identity to expose Fisk's corruption as mayor, helping bring about his impeachment and getting Karen's case dismissed.

• Infiltrating Red Hook, taking down members of Fisk's task force, and rescuing prisoners.

• Helping defeat the Hand, an ancient evil organization and preventing them from obtaining a powerful substance that could’ve led to a catastrophic event for all of New York.

• Easily defeating an enraged Kingpin in Born Again Season 2.

• Taking out 9 Russian mobsters in a hallway without any advanced gear, weapons, or armour (just his fits, and a microwave!).

• Thwarting an entire bank heist while operating solely as Matt Murdock without relying on the Daredevil persona.

• Gettin down with She-Hulk.

I think there are strong arguments for some of these, but I'm interested to hear what everyone else thinks.

Is there another feat or achievement that stands out the most? What would you consider to be Matt Murdock's greatest accomplishment so far?

Would be cool to bring in Hobgoblin as a villain, and introduce a main MCU Norman Osborn as a false suspect/red herring.. A paranoid Peter terroizes the poor guy due to his past experiences with Tobey's Green Goblin

I know Kevin Feige mentioned before that he really doesn’t want to re-do any past live-action, but it would be a shame to not have any version of Norman Osborn existing in the same world as the main MCU Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

I think there’s ways to reinvent him so he doesn’t feel like a complete re-hash. Dafoe’s Norman mentions that Oscorp doesn’t exist. What if this just means that Oscorp hasn’t been established yet and he’s just a determined, brilliant, up
-and-coming businessman and scientist? What if in this universe, Norman Osborn instead peruses a career in politics (like he does at some point in the 616 comics)? He could be a good, genuine person who is trying to better the world with his intellect.

Peter’s encounter with this version of Norman could trigger a sense of psychological trauma. A distrust and paranoia stemming from his past encounter with a multiverse version of Norman Osborn, the one who killed Aunt May.

The drama can be further heightened with the introduction of a pretty iconic villain that is similar in look and aesthetic to the Green Goblin, but technically hasn’t been done in live-action before, the Hobgoblin.

The comic origins of Hobgoblin is Roderick Kingsley, a billionaire fashion designer with criminal connections, who stumbles upon Norman Osborn’s lair. He steals the goblin gear in attempt to kill off rivals and those who are threat to him in order save his career.

So, what if they borrow aspects of the character for the MCU? Have the Hobgoblin mysteriously emerge and leave behind a string of murders across New York. Maybe he somehow got ahold of the damaged goblin gear from multiverse Norman after No Way Home (the glider might still be there and the broken helmet was left in an alleyway). In the eyes of many this Hobgoblin figure seems very familiar.

In attempt to uncover this mystery, Peter is lead directly to Norman Osborn. If Peter is wearing the symbiote at this time, it would only make him act even more out of line and rageful, confronting and accusing Norman of being the Hobgoblin. I could imagine a scenario where this ends up going badly, with Peter realizing Norman was innocent, but his realization coming too late as Norman gets badly hurt or is mentally thrown over the edge.

From there, you can explore this idea in many ways. The fear, anxiety, or resentment could possibly inadvertently drive Norman to lead a life of villainy in the future. They could do the traditional Green Goblin arc again or have him become a monstrous Green Goblin like the ultimate universe. Maybe he can excel in politics, gaining sympathy from his past troubles with Spider-Man to become a higher power within government, possibly donning the Iron Patriot armour like the Dark Avengers comics.

Understanding why they reimagined the character, having Namor be short for "El niño sin amor"—“the boy without love" was a pretty cool creative choice. I have a feeling he'll be a dark horse heading into Doomsday.

It was cool how they incorporated indigenous themes of colonization by borrowing from historical lore. Connecting Namor’s story and the lost kingdom of Talokan to Mayan and Mesoamerican cultures, as well as the abuse and torture faced from Spanish conquistadors was pretty brilliantly well done and added a nice layer of “realism” to it. More Mayan representation in mainstream is also very cool to have.

I’m also very excited to see him return in Doomsday. As a stoic, and ruthless leader who stays firm in his belief and love for his people, it’s hard to really predict where his allegiance will be by the end. Due to his own obsession of survival and deep-seeded paranoia caused by historical trauma, Namor is someone that can very much seem like an ally to you at first, but will be quick to turn if there’s another factor in play that will better benefit him and his people. It’ll be interesting to see if his alliance with Shuri, and possibly the other heroes will last.

As an isolated nation, Talokan is bringing a whole different perspective of pragmatism into the incursion problem that I’m really keen to see.

I still can’t fathom how WWE hit a slam dunk with the 2017 UK Tournament, signed nearly all the top UK talent, gutting the UK indie scene, only for NXT UK to fail & be abandoned. Only 3 wrestlers from the inaugural tournament remain signed.

Bravo (Tyler Bate), Rayo (Pete Dunne), and JD McDonagh (FKA Jordan Devin) are currently the only ones who remain with the company.

JD McDonagh is the only wrestler from the inaugural tournament who has won a championship on the main roster (WWE World Tag Team Championship).
