Probably the most low tech high reward thing I’ve ever done for my sewing room
If you don’t have a design wall, you’re missing out! This was a $3 outdoor tablecloth and some nails. Someday I’ll have to do a fancy foam board and batting one, but for now I love being able to lay things out and use it to stay motivated on a project!

How small of scraps do you keep?
I’m currently working on the “Summer Sun” quilt pattern by Kileys Quilt Room and unbeknownst to me prior to starting, it generates a lot of what I would consider waste in incredibly tiny HSTs.
Am I crazy for not keeping these tiny triangles? I don’t see a world where I would use them and they’re all close but ultimately different sizes since they are trimmings.
What’s the smallest scraps you keep?

Test block complete!
I posted about six months ago talking about how I wanted to make a memory quilt from old pajama pants. I finally got to a point where I think my skills are where they need to be, and I made a mock up block out of a spare pair of pajama pants and some scrap fabric I had. I used SF101 interfacing for the pajama pant portion only.
I’m fairly happy with how it turned out, and only a couple areas seemed to be thick feeding through the presser foot. While this isn’t the end design, I wanted to see how it would handle on maybe some smaller piecing like the HSTs.
I think the only thing I will change is instead of cutting out squares and then fusing the interfacing, I will be fusing the interfacing to large pieces first, then cutting them down to smaller squares. This will waste some interfacing, but I had a minor shrinkage issue on one HST that I think was a result of cutting then fusing.
I’m thinking maybe I do a few of these for a table runner then quilt it and wash it, but can you see any reason why this wouldn’t work?

Lost Luggage Help
UPDATE - I received a call on the evening of 7/20/26 letting me know my luggage has been located and I would receive a call confirming the delivery address on 7/21/26. I received an email from wheresmysuitcase.com at 7:51 pm on 7/21 with a link to confirm my information. I received an email at 9:57 pm letting me know my luggage was out for delivery and would be delivered by 11:43 pm. My luggage was delivered at 1:13 am on 7/22. Everything appears to be present but as it was late, will have to do a fuller inventory in the morning. The green TSA tape across the lid was disturbed. All in all, I am extremely relieved to have my bag returned.

On a recent trip my luggage was left in Dublin and not placed on the plane. I filled out the claim form and sent Aer Lingus the AirTag information and they had assured me that they would be placing my luggage on the next flight leaving the next day.
That was three days ago.
I have received zero communication and I have called and left messages requesting a status update and received none.
Luggage insurance will only kick in after 21 days. We are without the essentials we need and have no idea if our luggage will ever rejoin us 3500 miles away.
I have never experienced such poor customer service and indifference from an airline before. The last time my luggage was left behind, Alaskan Airlines went above and beyond to deliver it to me straight away. Beware trusting Aer Lingus with your baggage otherwise you might end up in this nightmare like me.

Advice for ORD situation
Given the situation with construction and tarmac delays at ORD, I’m asking for the experience of others regarding my situation. I’m flying to ORD with a two hour layover before an international flight. Given the current situation at ORD, is that enough even with delays? My flight to ORD has an average delay of 20-55 minutes with an on time departure of 53%-60%. The international flight will be the last one of the night.
There is an earlier flight that will give a layover of 4 hours, but I had booked first class seats and I’ve never tried to do trip change before and I don’t want to mess anything up. I’m surprising my spouse with nice seats for our trip.
I got stranded in ORD overnight by another airline last week (work trip) so now I’m slightly panicking, but figured I’d ask the collective minds for advice.

My family and I are trying to sort through my late grandmothers belongings. She was incredibly crafty and made all sorts of beautiful things. We are trying to figure out what this is so we can determine where to properly donate it.

Have you ever used this product?
Wanted thoughts on longevity, got a sample it certainly is waterproof. Only downside seems to be that you have to use a seaming iron on low heat.
