Shoyu wo Kakenai Kaisendon

Today is my birthday and I wanted to splurge a bit on lunch so I found this place near the office that serves seafood bowls. What's interesting is instead of soy sauce they're flavored with dashi made into jelly! I ordered the salmon avocado (1700 JPY) and it was really delicious, then at the end you pour broth on top and eat it as ochadzuke. The ochadzuke is what really set it over the top.

Outside an eel restaurant in Tokyo

At first I thought it doesn't even match the Japanese... But it KIND OF does... If like, run through 10 rounds of Google Translate, I guess.

(Does anyone know if the Chinese is just as wonky?)

Torichuuka from Yamagata

One of my favorite local ramens from Yamagata prefecture. The base is a dashi soup usually used for soba, cooked with chicken. It's much less heavy than other ramens, with a great chicken flavor! I also got a mini char siu bowl on the side. If you come to Yamagata, I definitely recommend the ramen.

This is the main store, but they also sell their noodles packaged so you can make it at home!

Scallop set meal in Aomori

I'm traveling around Tohoku for Obon and this is the best thing I've had so far, it's a full meal of scallop prepared various ways (sashimi, fried, grilled, etc.).

All of them were super delicious and not a bad deal at about 3000 JPY for dinner.

Place is the restaurant on the 10th floor of the Aomori tourism center! Definitely recommended if you come to Aomori City!

Sushiro x HSR Collab last day

I went with my friend and we were lucky enough to get a booth that was Mydei themed. HSR posters everywhere, and a huge touch screen playing HSR animation. They even included details like a chef's hat for Mydei and droma pajamas for Anexa!!!

Today I tried Huainan beef soup for the first time and it was delicious! I got it with noodles, 酸菜, and 梅干菜焼餅。The bread dipped in soup was amazing.

I went to Marugame Seimen today to try their new tomato and egg curry udon, with an optional topping of fried shrimp or cheese.

The last limited time curry udon with butter was really good, but this one was a bit disappointing. It was spicy but very sweet, and not tomato-y sweet but like sugary sweet. The ebi katsu though was delicious though and fried perfectly to order.

Also got tempura gobou and shiitake on the side, both were tasty.
